Production Section

What exactly does that paragraph have to with Courage? It is all about Smart talk with Raisin or some crap like that. It doesn't need to take up the WHOLE section. I giving the Smart Talk its own page.

The house

Is the opening shot of the farmhouse in some episodes based on a famous painting? There's this painting in my grandparents' house that looks almost exactly like that opening shot.

dilung

Does anyone know anything about the character "dilung"? I never saw him on the show and google doesn't have any results.

I've never heard of him. Considering I've seen virtually every Courage episode, he can't be a very important character if I've never heard of him, and probably shouldn't have his own subsection. Although...if I could see some pics, I might remember him. ~ Oni Lukos ct 21:02, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

dilung has a stung souteast asian accent, has black hair, sunglasses, an genreally skinny features as well as rather large lips. although i had never seen him referrred to by the name dilung, i recognized the character by the signature line "watch where ya going ya foo".

"Tv.com" lists his name as "Di Lung", so I changed it.

In the episodes Carbaret Courage, if you look on is flyers, it says his name is Di Lung.

Episodic villains

Recently, villians exclusively from the episode The Tower of Doctor Zalost have been added to this article. If we got into episodic villains, the article could become extremely large. Perhaps we should split it into an article "Episodic villians from Courage the Cowardly Dog"? Disorganization

It may be just me, but this article seems a little disorganized and confusing. For example, the "Production" section seems like a collection of trivia and fun facts (which are arranged confusingly and come back at each other). The section about Eustace wanders all over the place, going from talking about his personality to discussing the voice actors and then returning to his personality. Farm Dog

I have seen a series of paper back books called Courgious The Cowerdly Farm Dog or something similar. Both the book and this show have a similar premis, they both came out at I think the same time but I cant find anything saying if this show is based of the books or vice versa. --WisK 02:11, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Tenesse Williams reference

Quote from trivia section: "If something frustrates Eustace, he frequently leaves the house. Muriel catches him and asks where he is going. He responds,"I'm going to the picture show."". Courage and Flag semaphore

I seem to remember courage using flag semaphore quite a bit, the clearest memory is from that episode where there's a theif with split personality (looking back at the list of episodes, I think it's "Family Business"). Does he use it in enough episodes for the article (or the characters article) to say he uses semaphore often, several or many times? If so, it should also be added to the "references in fiction" subtitle of the Semaphore article. If not, is it just a one-off occurence that registered repeatedly in my memory because of reruns?200.44.7.123 03:55, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Not sure what to make of this strange paragraph

"A fifth season was considered on this show but was never made. Eustace Bagge is derived from Useless Bag (Indeed, his deceased brother Horace, during one of Eustace's flashbacks calls him "Useless") because he treats Muriel like a slave and only thinks of himself, in a similar manner to an abusive husband. Bad Hair Day (Season 2, Episode 8) is mainly a spoof of Michael Crichton's 1978 mystery film Coma. Many of the episodes have classical music playing in the background when certain situations occur. There is a song "Courage the Cowardly Dog" by They Might Be Giants. Notable people have guest-starred, such as Ringo Starr, Tim Curry, and Jim Cummings. In one of the older Cartoon Network Fridays, Muriel is shown hosting the Fridays. Muriel is the daughter of a pig-farmer (Craig Bartlett) and a poor old tailor who eats cows (Unseen Characters) In The Shadow of Courage, Courage takes the form of a burglar, trying to tell Eustace and Muriel that somebody is there, that same burglar was a character in Family Business, a second season episode. The beginning of The Magic Tree of Nowhere is a spoof on the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk. The tree growing scene at the beginning is also a reference to the beanstalk growing scene in Mickey and the Beanstalk. At one point, there were plans to be a movie based upon the series when it ended, but the concept was eventually dropped. At one point, there was a music video featuring Courage on Cartoon Network that was sung by They Might Be Giants. In one episode featuring a zombie antagonist named Benton Tarantella, a reference is probably made to Mike Lazzo. Tarantella is said to be a criminal partnered with another zombie named Lazzo. In a plot to kill the Bagges, Tarantella pretends to be shooting a show about the lives of them, much like reality television. Near the end of the episode, Tarantella is saying to Lazzo on his cell phone, "It will be a huge hit, Lazzo!" In this same episode, in the end, you see the Courage and Muriel watching the movie they made (with the changes Courage made). You can see at the end of it, when you see Courage hitting the ground where he buried the zombies. If you look closely, you can see that that scene resembles another one in a later episode named "feast of the bullfrogs"."

As of right now, I've deleted it from the article, unless there's some reason for it to be there. For whatever reason, it was placed under "Production," which makes no sense to me. Frankly I think most of the paragraph should just be eliminated completely since it largely consists of random anecdotes from various episodes, although a few pieces of information could be salvaged and put in appropriate context as opposed to being mashed into this paragraph.--Foot Dragoon 23:53, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

New Season or not?

It says here that it is currently unknown if it is in production again. But then on Perfect (Courage the Cowardly Dog) it says that Perfect was the series finale but that new episodes are to be shown in the summer of 2007. I know there are alot of petitions for another season, but I don't know. Courage the Cowardly Dog does rerun currently at 10:00 pm, but could that be a sign that it will soon show new episodes?? Banned Episode

I've never heard about this episode being banned. It's still on, so if there was a ban at some point, it's been lifted. I can't imagine why it would be banned, though. ~ Oni Lukos ct 00:24, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Are you sure? My cousin has claimed to see "The Clutching Foot", but he's never seen "King Ramses' Curse". Well, I believe that the creepier/scarier episodes (i.e. "The House of Discontent" and "Windmill Vandals") were not banned. But didn't this episode bother anyone at all? It WAS NOT banned. I saw it the other day on CN. There is like five uploads of it on Youtube. Why did you think it was banned? It wasn't murder or drug abuse, or anything.

I think the rumor of it beingn banned started was when people heard Cartoon Netwrok had Messages saying it was by far the scariest episode of Courage the cowrdly dog since it had an ancient curse a 3-D ancient Mummy/ghost and a propable death of 2 criminals by a Gigantic sworm of deadly locusts so people ASUMED it was bannedYouknowme(youdon'tknowme) 01:22, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Hanna-Barbera Studios

As I know the pilot was produced by H-B, and as much that I wish that the whole series was (in my opinion it would be even greater than what it was), where is the evidence, source, interview, that confirms this. As far as I know it was always meant to be produced by Stretch Films, though I think it would have been better was it produced by H-B. No page for main characters

Because of redirects on the pages of the main characters, they don't have their own pages or even a collective page about them. Location of Nowhere

American DVD confirmation...?

Yeah, so the article claims that CtCD gets a US release this month, but I haven't heard anything about it and I can't find confirmation anywhere. New Season

Recently, there has been an influx of changes done to indicate that there is a new season or movie. I did a little research and found nothing to support this. Emmy nominated?

I've checked on the IMDb for Emmy nomination for the animated short and the show, and there is none. The show only won the Annie award and the Golden Reel Award. The short never won or nominated any Emmys. Do you thank that's possible that the show and the animated short never won any Emmys? - (Jj98 (talk) 19:44, 8 July 2010 (UTC))


Fifth season unlikely

"In 2003, it was rumored that the network was considering a fifth season for the show and many fans compiled an online petition for Cartoon Network to run that fifth season. However, the petition was never sent to the network, which decided not to renew their four-year contract. There would probably not have been a fifth season at any rate: the production team had finished an exhausting year at the end of two full unbroken seasons, and felt that they were finished for a while. They decided to work on a new series for Cartoon Network though this never went beyond pre-production. That same year, there were talks about two new projects, neither of which came to fruition. The first was a CD soundtrack produced by the series composer Jody Gray, having music scores from the series and popular songs. The second was a possible feature-length movie, although they did not discuss whether it would have been a made-for-TV movie or a theatrical release."

I don't think that's possible for a fifth season, although the show originally ran for four seasons. It appears to be a rumor or fancruft or a hoax. Let's not forget that Lionel G. Wilson, the voice of Eustace, he died in 2003 pneumonia. JJ98 (talk) 14:45, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Imrpovments

I have did some work for the article, although I agree with Tbhotch concerns, this article isn't GA enough, like the overview section contains some copyright violation possibly copied the other website. Some concerns were raised by Tbhotch at the peer review:


I have reworded a little bit, but however, I have removed the broadcast section which is entirely unsourced, including some unreliable sources like IMDb, and one Wikia link which violates WP:ELNO. Season 2 DVD

I just saw this DVD for sale at my local WalMart with a sticker on the packaging that indicated it was only sold at WM. I'm guessing they got the exclusive rights to sell until October 14th. I don't really care about this anymore. I am the one that I got this article improved almost five years ago. It should be remained as a start-class. I gave up editing this article because after it was poorly done. I don't feel like improving this article and putting up for GAN any time soon because of fan speculation or original research. Is Courage the Cowardly Dog semi-European?

Ending Tropes

I would make mention of the fact that there seems to be a large rift of discontinuity between most episodes, but such things would need to be compiled, assessed, and analyzed by a professional critic for them to be credible here — i.e. a page which has had such a sordid history of edits. — JamesEG (talk) 06:30, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Final comments

Its been almost seven years since I've done this article very poorly, with no efforts to improve since I've listed at peer review. I don't think really need to contribute to this article anymore. I've added a to do list for suggestions. I did some searching about the rumors of the show and found a forum that nothing makes me confident, and all appears to be WP:CRYSTAL. The more I dig and everything about Courage the Cowardly Dog, and traced as AWN as source, and no evidence that actual production started and all this is false (that everyone in this show died or left). I did also some digging at IMDb, and found no evidence to support this. It could have been based from Smart talk from Rasin from Liquid Television. As it stands, I think this article reads like a fansite, and it won't pass as a GA in its current state and it needs a total rewrite if I'm right. I could be wrong, and does not seem to be happening and it needs to clear things up. Its not a very popular show. I think my edits to this article was a big mistake since I came here, I know that people worked hard for it, and I doubt they did so apparently as a trustworthy source.
