Problems, problems, problems[edit]

I started with the Cresap's War mention of the (red linked) Conejohela Valley, and I found this Conejohela Flats article from the word Conejohela. This article has a lot of problems, perhaps more than I have time and energy to resolve. I would welcome help from other editors. --DThomsen8 (talk) 14:12, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removed[edit]

I removed [[Lancaster County, Pennsylvania|Lancaster]]/[[York County, Pennsylvania|York]],<br>{{flag|United States}} from the top of this article, because I could not see the purpose of these two lines. Lancaster County and York County are certainly involved in the location of the Conejohela Flats and the Conejohela Valley. Beyond that, there is no purpose in having these two lines at the beginning of the article. --DThomsen8 (talk) 02:40, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sentence Fragment[edit]

"that is home to dozens of valuable wild life species, but Amerindian travelers and Pennsylvania−Maryland in pre-Colombian."

What does that sentence fragment mean? --DThomsen8 (talk) 04:04, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name of article[edit]

I would suggest that Conejohela Valley would be a much better name for this article than Conejohela Flats.--DThomsen8 (talk) 14:12, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Be bold, Dthomsen8![edit]

I was just new page patrolling when I tagged this article, so feel free to be bold and edit away. I don't really know anything about Pennsylvania (except lush Philly soul), so count me out on any article improvement efforts. –—Tom Morris (talk) 17:27, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would be bold WP:BB if I knew enough or had references to guide me in revising this article. It is a mess, because it is about the Conejohela Flats, part of the Conejohela Valley, and about the Safe Harbor Dam, and it seems to me that none of these are covered very well. Were the Flats covered by the lake created by the dam? --DThomsen8 (talk) 01:17, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite / Continuing Improvement[edit]

I've just completed a pretty big rewrite of the article. I kept very little of the original text; almost every sentence needed replacing. I think it's substantially better now, and more focused, but it still needs a lot of work:

Expansion
  • Much more on the history, particularly pre-Columbian Indian history and colonial times
  • Ecosystem - what makes it popular for birders
  • Geography / Geology - what changes were made by the Safe Harbor Dam, and what the underlying geology is
References

The article is still largely unreferenced. I'm far from PA, so I don't have much access to local geologic information.

Page Moves
  • The article is primarily about the Conejohela Valley, not the flats. Perhaps a switch is in order - text on the Valley page, and redirect from flats.
  • Possible merge with Lake Clarke, Pennsylvania?

Good work so far, Pi. I would suggest a rename to Conejohela Valley, with a redirect from Conejohela Flats, especially because of the Cresap's War article, which also needs some work. I would say that the Lake Clarke, Pennsylvania article should remain a separate article. --DThomsen8 (talk) 01:05, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
