Plot summaries[edit]

I'm writing fairly richly detailed plot summaries. By the end of the season, if not sooner, it should be clearer which details are important and which are not, and then can be pared down. At this point (ep. 3), it's not even clear who all the important characters are, nor which plot points matter much.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  17:11, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Factory[edit]

The article states that offenders are sent to slave labor to the factory. However, this is never stated in the series up until episode 4. Whether they are sent to the factory as labor or as the raw material is ambiguous, and I believe intentionally so.

The article should be changed to reflect that, unless I missed something. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.138.157.180 (talk) 16:28, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It was stated in ep. 1, and repeatedly since then, but in an in-universe way. I.e., the characters believe it's for slave labor. I agree that in ep. 3 we're left to feel unsure (and the strip scene is an homage to Schindler's List), but it would be WP:OR / WP:CRYSTAL to comment in WP's own voice about such things. We have to take what's presented at face value. The solution might be to simply say people are sent to something called "The Factory", and neither speculate on it either way, nor mention the characters' own statements that it's for labor.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  10:00, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Full names[edit]

In episode 9 Katie addresses Gracie as "Grace Kathryn" when talking to her seriously.

It seems probably Katie is also short for something, perhaps also Kathryn. Does anyone recall an episode where this was said or displayed somewhere? I wasn't looking out for it at the time but it would be useful in establishing the full names of the characters and not just their common nicknames. 184.145.18.50 (talk) 08:04, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

season two[edit]

Now we are here I think it is a good time to export list of episodes to its own page. Thoughts? Ranze (talk) 20:24, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Jamesbushell.au (talk) 05:30, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest we Wait until Season 3 is confirmed, two seasons of episodes looks ok in an article whereas three is too much. Mike Lacey, UK 07:49, 18 February 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by MikeLacey (talkcontribs)
Agree on delaying split. The episode table(s) take up almost 26k of this 42k sized page, far more than half (see WP:Size split). Trim down the first season summaries to the suggested 100-200 word size (see MOS:TV), and that number decreases. Second season has no summaries as yet, so a list split serves no purpose at the moment. — Wyliepedia 10:13, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree on delay. Soon as episodes get added it makes for lengthy reading. If not season 2 page, in the very least, a page with the list of episodes should be created. MisterShiney 01:27, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Season 2 is half over with no added episode summaries as of my post timestamp. Ratings aren't looking good for a third season by USA's standards, so why split off an episode list page? The main page is one-stop shopping as described at WP:SS. — Wyliepedia 06:57, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I would imagine that's because no one has gotten around to doing it. I would had I enough time. But no doubt it's on someone's to do list. It should be split off because that's what's done in line with WP:MOSTV after a first season, even if it's just an additional season. One example that immediately comes it mind is Revolution. You have the main article that splits off to the list of episodes page. MisterShiney 21:18, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
...which happened in the middle of the first season of a network show whose article was borderline too big to navigate, unlike Colony in its current state. Too soon, other stuff exists, etc etc. I could also go in and reduce the current episode summaries to their suggested size, but I haven't seen the show and might cut important info, thus risking an edit war. — Wyliepedia 09:11, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of "keeping in line": MOS:TVPLOT suggests gutting the plot section too. It should be noted that I'm not against a future list fork (as I did way too soon with Resurrection three years ago) I've just grown as a TV editor to think like a visitor in not wanting to have to search for an episode summary in the Wikiworld. — Wyliepedia 09:21, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We need to split this article soon. I strongly believe that USA will end up renewing Colony for a third season in the coming weeks and there's already a lot of information as it is. 2601:8C:4001:DCB9:61C6:E92A:FB08:C3B (talk) 23:20, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My $.02 - Add the Episodes page when the schedule for season 3 is announced, which should be shortly (sometime in the next few weeks). If no objections, I'll give it a shot if no one else takes it on.Dlairman (talk) 17:13, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That would be premature given discussions going on elsewhere, like here: WT:Manual of Style/Television § List of episodes - when to split. Page splits should be based on WP:SPLIT/WP:SIZESPLIT... I think a general rule of thumb discussed in that long discussion was around 40–45 episodes. Which would mean it would be appropriate to split after s3, once we had enough info to start filling in details in an episode table for s4 (should there be one). —Joeyconnick (talk) 17:36, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
