Longest platform[edit]

This claim is incorrect. The platforms at Cheriton Shuttle Terminal are 791m (2595ft) long. 203.7.140.3 (talk) 03:08, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And I'd still say the claim is dubious anyway. It isn't a continous platform face. You couldn't park a 400m Eurostar along it and open all the doors - something you could do at Cambridge —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.96.42.246 (talk) 19:02, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. It's a situation different from Gloucester, where platforms 1 & 2 do form a continuous face over 600 metres (2,000 ft) long. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:00, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have a source from 1974 which gives the "official" B.R. list of longest platforms as follows: Colchester (1,975 ft or 602 m), Bournemouth (1,748 ft or 533 m), Perth (1,714 ft or 522 m), York (1,692 ft or 516 m), Edinburgh Waverley (1,596 ft or 486 m), Crewe (1,509 ft or 460 m), London Victoria (1,500 ft or 460 m), Newcastle Central (1,389 ft or 423 m) and Cambridge (1,254 ft or 382 m). I suppose it omits Gloucester because they didn't lengthen the platform there until after the closure of the Tuffley Loop. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:55, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also worthy of note is the platform that once linked Manchester Exchange railway station with Manchester Victoria station which was 2,238 feet (682 m). Mighty Antar (talk) 12:53, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Victoria 11/Exchange 3; but since Exchange closed 1969, it also won't be listed in Lamberhurst's "official" source. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:22, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Station has been updated again, after a massive 'do-up' by East Anglia. There is now a whole new face the the back entrance, including a whole new reception. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.208.45.4 (talk) 13:23, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
