New article comments[edit]

I created this article today. I know there is a great deal of information available about the Cleaveland whaling family, in disparate sources, and would appreciate the contributions of others in pulling some of that interesting material together.

I created the article with the belief that it is an interesting subject with historical relevance. For example, it is relevant to the topics of whaling, San Francisco and the California Gold Rush, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, and more. The connections to Cleveland Ohio and Grover Cleveland are interesting trivia that need to be sourced, assuming they are not edited out entirely.

The article subject scope, a whaling family, is not unprecedented. I was inspired by the article Starbuck (whaling family). But I am interested in feedback if someone is qualified to comment on whether the scope is consistent with Wikipedia policy. What I was especially desirous to avoid is the creation of what might resemble a vanity page about a family. I do believe in the relevance of this article, but would be glad to discuss. And if this is within the scope of Wikipedia acceptability, would Wikipedia be improved by other articles of the same nature? I do not know the answer to that.
