Are the numbers correct?

I'm looking at the numbers here, and there must be some mistake when the article mentions that she gave $3.5 M of her $16.3 B fortune to charity between 2002 and 2006. As a proportion of her wealth this amounts to 0.0002147 (just over 2 hundredths of one percent) - a very tiny proportion. In fact, this would be like a person with $100,000 in wealth making a contribution of $21.47, which is actually far below what most people would contribute to charity - typical contributions would be at least 10 times what her proportion is purported here to be.

As I said, there must be something wrong with the numbers. If not, then the term "philanthropist" would need to modified in some respect.

Does anyone know if these are indeed the correct numbers?

Wealth overstated

Christy Walton is not the wealthiest woman, or 6th wealthiest person in the USA. As the article states "she and her family (not including her two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law) had an estimated net worth of $36.7 billion". The wealth is shared amongst a number of people, not her alone.Royalcourtier (talk) 22:10, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Actually that is not overstated. It was only shared by her and her son. Her wealth was originally the wealth of the late John Walton (son of Sam Walton and brother Rob Walton) who left all his wealth to his wife Christy Walton and son Lukas Walton. Request: Arrest in 1970

Hi! Can we discuss this article's Arrest in 1970 section? Specifically, I question whether this belongs in Christy Walton's Wikipedia biography based on Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons.

In what I have been able to find, this case was written about in one publication, and it appears the case was only of interest to that publication because the law enforcement officials conducted their raid "too early." The actual alleged crime was not particularly noteworthy, as it is not the focus of the news article cited here. This source does not indicate that Christy Walton was involved in anything major; rather, it only says she was in the home at the time of the raid. It's also worth noting, as it is reflected in this Wikipedia article, that the charges were dropped. This incident seems hardly worthy of its own section.

According to WP:BLP: "Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid: it is not Wikipedia's job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives; the possibility of harm to living subjects must always be considered when exercising editorial judgment". Also, "If an allegation or incident is noteworthy, relevant, and well documented, it belongs in the article—even if it is negative and the subject dislikes all mention of it. If you cannot find multiple reliable third-party sources documenting the allegation or incident, leave it out".

Due to the lack of coverage of this incident, and the fact that charges were dropped, I ask editors to consider removing the section from this Wikipedia article. User:JFG, bringing this to your attention as I see that you had removed similar content back in April. If more input is needed, I can also go to WP:BLP/N to see if editors from there will comment, since this issue falls within that noticeboard's remit.

I have removed the content once again, as WP:UNDUE + WP:COPYVIO of the cited 1972 Desert Sun newspaper article. I note that this article was not specifically about Christy Tallant, but rather focused on procedural issues with the arrest. If the contributing editor would like to restore this incident into the biography, they should exhibit wider coverage that could be shown to have had a notable influence on Ms. Taliant's life. — JFG ^talk 20:42, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
