Potential inconsistency[edit]

Under 'Military cooperation' it says " Israel has now become China's second-largest supplier of arms (following Russia)." But under 'Controversies' it says "Israel's increasing defense cooperation with China has caused concern in the United States, which is the largest provider of military equipment to Israel."

I presume that the two statements can be reconciled; there is probably a difference in 'arms' and 'military equipment' that I'm not seeing. But it should be spelt out in the text. --Matthew Proctor (talk) 23:18, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • China's top suppliers: 1. Russia, 2. Israel.
  • Israel's top suppliers: 1. United States...
There's a difference.Naur (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 15:16, 26 December 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Russia israel syria china quadrangle weapons dealing[edit]

Russia sells arms to syria, russia and israel jointly sold aircraft to china, and the chinese defense minister was able to visit Damascus and fly directly to israel after that, discussing military ties with both countries.

China, Iran, Israel anti soviet alliance[edit]

Cooley is a reliable source for china and israel's dealings in Afghanistan, although much of his attempts to deal with the history of islam in china is wrong. (he didn't know at all about the fact that the Second East Turkestan republic was a soviet puppet state)

Biased and Irrelevant Information[edit]

Under the development of bilateral relations, it reads "China's receptive and friendly embrace of the Jewish people on its soil has been one of affectionate sympathy as the Chinese have developed a favorable view of Jews, admiring them for their contributions to humanity, their ability to survive, the sharing of Chinese values such as family, frugality, hard work, and education, and being products of ancient civilizations have been an impetus towards the long and enduring friendship between the Chinese and Jewish peoples.[14][34][35] Shared affinities and similar cultural commonalities has not only been an impetus for the close bonds between China and Israel but has also created a symbol of brotherhood between the two communities.[13][36]" Not only is this information irrelevant to the section but reads like a ethnocentric propaganda with obvious favorable language to both sides.

I agree here. Not neutral and needs cleaning up. I think I'm going to be bold and take a stab at them. No one has disagreed with the above comment for a few days. so I think it's reasonable. 67.6.196.141 RedOak350 (talk) 22:34, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely sounds like someone copy-pasted a press release by their embassies. A cleanup would be appropriate. BrxBrx(talk)(please reply with {{SUBST:re|BrxBrx}}) 03:43, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading Information and Lack of Context in Israel-Hamas War Section[edit]

In the Israel-Hamas War section under Bilateral issues and disputes, it is stated that "Commentary in Chinese state media blamed the U.S. for the conflict and spread antisemitic tropes against Israel.[93][94][95][96]" However, upon reviewing these sources, none except the recently-added source [95] claim that Chinese state media has spread antisemitic tropes; these sources instead quote posts that are critical of Israel, rather than the Jewish people at large. Additionally, none of these sources actually link to truly anti-semitic posts by Chinese social media users. Source [95] is a heavily-biased Israeli publication that is often considered a propaganda outlet, and should not be used. It would be more factual, more relevant, and less biased to replace the sentence quoted above with the main example used in the sources--Chinese claims that Israel has used white phorphorus munitions against civilians--and a qualifier stating that media in Israel and the West have claimed that such posts are anti-semitic.

Another article, linked to in Source [96], provides additional context for the purported anti-semitic stance of Chinese citizens by quoting one user's reaction to the death of Du Zhaoyu, for which Israel has not yet apologized. The incident in which Du Zhaoyu was killed is well-documented, and provides much-needed context to the current state of China-Israel relations.

Additionally, the final sentence in this section--"In January 2024, Israel reported that it discovered a "massive" stockpile of Chinese weaponry used by Hamas.[99]"--is missing context given in the source. The source (which was improperly archived--the archive link should direct to the archive.org capture) does not conclusively state the origin of the stockpile, and describes the stockpile as containing not only Chinese-designed weapons but also optical sights, communication devices, and American-designed M16 rifles. If it is relevant to the article to include the capture of this stockpile, it is relevant to explain that the stockpile did not contain exclusively Chinese weapons, and that it has not conclusively been found to originate in China.
