World War II[edit]

The following points are from War's End by Charles W. Sweeney. (1997) Avon Books. ISBN 0-380-78874-8

The 509th Composite Group was activated December 17, 1944, not in September 1944. p.94.
Don Albury (as Sweeney refers to him in the book) was one of three pilots under Sweeney assigned to testing the XB-29 and YB-29 delivered to Eglin Air Base in September, 1943. pp. 38-39, 43, 52.
Albury went with Sweeney to Wendover Air Base in September, 1944. p. 81.
Albury was one of two pilots included in a group invited by Tibbets to form the nucleus of what became the 509th. Tibbets formed two air crews, one headed by himself with Bob Lewis as his co-pilot, and the other headed by Sweeney, with Albury as his co-pilot. p. 107.

I'm reluctant to make any major edits to this article (he was my second cousin). An ebook edition of Sweeney's book may be available for borrowing through a library (http://openlibrary.org/books/OL1008554M/War's_end), if someone wants to verify this information and use it. -- Donald Albury 12:50, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Link to Wikileaks[edit]

A document from Wikileaks is cited in the article as a source, in the 'Life following world war II' section. Per this discussion at the Reliable sources noticeboard, the cited source does not appear to be reliable, and should be removed from the article, along with the statement supported by the Wikileaks document. As this removal is potentially controversial, and I have a conflict of interest as a relative of Charles Donald Albury, I cannot do so. - Donald Albury 16:37, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As a non-relative of Albury, I have removed that bit. If a reliable secondary source is found, it can be re-added assuming it is due. Abecedare (talk) 16:42, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An IP has once again added a comment critical of the subject, citing WikiLeaks. WikiLeaks is still regarded as a primary source, and generally unreliable; see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. As Charles Donald Albury's relative, I cannot remove this, but ask if anyone else agrees that it should be removed. - Donald Albury 12:15, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
