Title[edit]

When this musical opens on Broadway with its new title of Chaplin, I think this article should be renamed. Since there is already a Chaplin (musical), this musical/article could be named (eg) Chaplin (2012 musical) or Chaplin (Charlie Chaplin musical) or even possibly (although far-fetched) Chaplin (Limelight musical). I agree that the title should be changed now that the musical is close to opening. The most reasonable title would be "Chaplin (2012 musical)", I also think that a redirect page should be made so that searches for "Chaplin the Musical" and possibly "Chaplin" direct here, and that a redirect link at the top be provided in case someone is looking for the 1988 musical. Well, here we go: the musical opened on Sept 10, 2012, time to rename this article. Thanks for the redirect sugestion, sounds good to me. Here again are some ideas:
  • Chaplin (2012 musical);
  • Chaplin:The Musical;
  • Chaplin (2012 Broadway musical);
  • Chaplin (Curtis musical);
  • Chaplin (Limelight musical);
  • Chaplin (Charlie Chaplin musical).
I have no particular favorite. I note the image of the Playbill has only "Chaplin". I'll add a note to the Musical theatre project talk page about this.Flami72 (talk) 11:08, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest calling THIS one Chaplin (musical) and renaming the OTHER one Chaplin (Goldmsith and Anderson musical). Or, call this one Chaplin (Curtis musical) and the other one Chaplin (Goldmsith and Anderson musical), both of which will be shown at a disambiguation page called Chaplin (musical), as well as here. -- Ssilvers (talk) 13:59, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Don't forget: If the creators want to continue working on this project, it may very well have a new title for its next production (wanting to disassociate it from the current version with extremely poor reviews). -- kosboot (talk) 14:11, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. Discussions below and above favored "Chaplin (YEAR musical)", and as the respective musicals first played in 2006 and 1993 I have moved them to "Chaplin (2006 musical)" and "Chaplin (1993 musical)". DrKiernan (talk) 16:04, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Limelight: The Story of Charlie ChaplinChaplin (2012 Curtis musical) –This musical opened on Broadway in 2012 under the title of Chaplin; the musical was previously titled Limelight: The Story of Charlie Chaplin (which is the current title of the article). There is already an existing article (and musical) with the title of Chaplin (musical). This move proposes to rename the 2012 musical with both the date (of opening on Broadway) and the last name of the writer of the book (co-writer), lyrics and music, and combines the titles from the two editors who commented.Flami72 (talk) 10:56, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - slightly. Unless there is another 2012 musical of the same name, the name of the book writer is not necessary. "Chaplin (2012 musical)" should be fine. But what is wrong with Chaplin: The Musical?--ZooFamily (talk) 00:28, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
