This is a good start and a great first draft. I think that with the information you have you did a great job at organizing and structuring your article. You give a good overview of her career and the works she accomplished as a screenwriter. You also have a good amount of sources that are used to support your facts throughout. You also include a lot of internal links that already make it start to feel like a wiki article.

However, I feel like the article is missing information. In some areas you make statements but don't expand on them. I know it's hard finding a lot of different information in order to make the article fuller (I'm having the same issue). What I would suggest (if you haven't tried doing so already) is instead of researching her name, try researching more about the information you found. Maybe research about the films themselves and see if they had any impact during that time period. Or even if any of the movies she wrote enhanced the careers of the female stars you mentioned. This will help develop what it was like to work in that era and how influential your chosen writer was. I would maybe go back to the sources you have and look over smaller details you may have dismissed because they didn't feel important enough, including these will add more depth the article. I would like the see more on her personal life as well. Any relationships? children? family? Again, I know most information is limited but really any smaller details could help make this article stronger and more developed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smariamartins (talkcontribs) 02:14, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

review[edit]

Your article has a very good foundation! I enjoyed the fact that you included some of Turney's quotes and statements. There are a few points I wanted to make about structure content details.

In your section titled "Education and early career", you mention MGM. Perhaps specify what MGM stands for and create a hyper-link. Also, at the beginning of this section you may not need to include "In the 1930s [...]" if you mention that Bitter Harvest was produced/shown in 1936 (this is just a very small detail). Perhaps elaborate on what you mean when you say "[...] thinking she was english [...]". Without context, this may not be clear to all readers. Additionally, it may be a good idea to elaborate on who Waldo Salt was (what was his particular role in the production?). Maybe instead of saying "After her experience", you could say "After Bitter Harvest" to avoid making any assumptions. Perhaps omit "She decided" and say "She returned to play-writing". To sum up, this section has great information but be sure to avoid making any claims you won't be able to provide clear proof of.

In your section titled, "Hollywood", you state that the female characters that Turney wrote for were "strong and independent women with a sense of character and humour.". This is a great description of her characters but perhaps try to add "her characters were known to be [...]" or "it is said that her characters were [...]" along with the footnote I see you have provided. This will help you keep your article as objective as possible. Also, it may be a good idea to add a hyper-link when you mention the Academy Awards.

I'm sure it would be tough to find, but maybe try to research a bit more information on her personal life to refine the article. All in all, I enjoyed learning about Catherine Turney so, thank you!

Hello! Your article is really interesting and made me very curious about who Catherine Turney was. I guess that for assigned a deeper knowledge of who she was, would be nice to write down more about the issue of not being credit, for example; as you start talking in this follow paragraph: "Turney is probably best known for The Man I Love, A Stolen Life, My Reputation and Mildred Pierce, although uncredited for the latter.[4][5] While the film was nominated for Best Screenplay Writing at the 1946 Academy Awards, Turney did not receive on-screen credit and therefore was technically never nominated for an Academy Award.", and refers in the topic "filmography". Also, even if the main subject for this assignment is about her career as a screenwriter, her role as a novelist and romancist seems really important to define her personality and her way of life. What do you think about write an extra topic where you develop it better? Beyond that, your article is very good! You are in the right way :) Regards Anna Iunes (talk) 00:42, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
