Title of page[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Prime_Ministers_of_the_United_Kingdom shows the Prime Minister of this as 'Spencer Compton, The Earl of Wilmington'. I therefore suggest that this page should be renamed 'Wilmington/Carteret Ministry'

The period covered by this 'Ministry' seems to 'straddle' the Premierships of Spencer Compton, 1st Earl of Wilmington, who was PM until his death on 2nd July 1743, and Henry Pelham, who was PM from 27 August 1743. In other words, the period covered by Pelham's premiership seems to 'straddle' this Ministry and the Broad Bottom Ministry. The normal practice in 'Ministry' articles seems to be that a Ministry begins and ends with the term of a Prime Minister. The only exception is where a change in the party composition of the Ministry is counted as producing two successive Ministries under the same PM - e.g. Asquith in 1915, MacDonald in 1931, Chamberlain in 1939, Churchill in 1945. I therefore suggest that either: -

1. July/August 1743 should be taken as the end of this Ministry and the beginning of what could be called the 'First Pelham Ministry', or

2. This Ministry should be sub-divided into what could be called the 'Wilmington/Carteret Ministry' and what could be called the 'Pelham/Carteret Ministry'.
