These three references are extremely poor for a WP:BLP, two being very superficial listings. Much of the prose appears to be personal commentary and WP:OR, ferinstance, Khaylock as the sole substantial contributor how do you know the birthdate? Are you related to the subject of the article?--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 17:46, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not related to her, but I am a fan. Well, I was a fan when she was racing - her winning a Manx GP was a major milestone, as the first & only woman to win a race on the TT course - http://www.isleofman.com/News/details/30022/sells-honoured-by-government. I thought her omission from Wikipedia's pantheon of motorcycle road racers deserved to be fixed. I included the DoB info just for consistency, & because it's a standard field in the Motorcycle Rider Infobox subclass - I literally hit her up on Twitter, explained that I was doing a Wikipedia entry for her racing career & asked her for some info, some racing pictures I could use that she had the rights to publish under a CC licence &c. She was happy to oblige & sent me a bunch of info on top. Clearly the article at present is barely more than a stub but it is a work in progress & I intend to improve the quality of the article, & will select better citations as I go. e.g. https://www.bbc.co.uk/isleofman/content/articles/2009/09/04/carolynnsells_feature.shtml
I'm specifically pushing back against the 'notable person' bit of the critique. The rest will be fixed urgently. Ken Haylock (talk) 11:59, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You are demonstrating your lack of Wiki-experience here Khaylock - there is no need for any 'push back' - the notability template is there to alert any passing editor, fan, enthusiast that this article lacks the standard definitions and - perhaps - they could help out with sources. I anticipated this, as....I've done this before . All it means in real-life terms is that more published accounts are needed for now and the future. I didn't even know I had this on my watchlist - I think it was your determination to hack into the rider template(s) still with red errors that alerted me. I've skimmed her Facebook presence, and I can see she has featured in other publications. I like some of the pics, especially the slimline 650 Triton. I have Googled you, too. There is a one-off achievement that qualifies a person for notability that I won't go into; this has been considered by myself, but the Notability top-tag is the best option, I feel. It's not intended as an attack, just a flag to others. Have a look at Paul Dobbs and Billy Redmayne.
The anecdotal accounts from the lady herself are a no-no. Of course I've seen it all before...Rgds--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 16:16, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'll make sure everything is independently evidenced... I've hit her up to release the photo & she has apparently submitted now. Ken Haylock (talk) 20:42, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've had to nominate for deletion the image(s) associated with this article; Wikimedia Commons is entirely separate to English-language Wikipedia, and images uploaded without correct licencing need to be discussed by their community. Looking at the upload detail, I have concluded there is much anecdotally-sourced content here; WP:BIO content needs to be supported by reliable published sources.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 20:27, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • By Googling her name, I have established that the full version of the image appearing as cropped in this article was published on Facebook, 7 October 2013.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 21:51, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
See the page on Wikimedia - this image is correctly CC licenced by the rightsholder, I just haven't quite worked out how to prove that to you yet... Ken Haylock (talk) 12:00, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're not having to prove anything to me....this is International Copyright Law that Wikipemedia needs to conform to.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 16:03, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot to add this bit... actually brain fog...the name comes to me, eventually (organic server lag). Please look at Gary Carswell, where I requested an un-published image from his widow. Thanks. Rocknrollmancer (talk) 17:02, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Whilst I have the tab open, the uncropped image (File:Carolynn Sells Podium.jpg) was published at a blog in 2013. This is a personal website (WP:SPS) and not considered as a WP:RS.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 23:32, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are now five links to Manx Grand Prix in this short article. Please decide which to delete (tip: two need to go, IMO).--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 01:10, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No reaction so...... Done it meshelf.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 14:03, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Guinness World Record[edit]

This article in part relies on the Guinness World Record. To me, in this instance, application of the word "record" is a misnomer; it is a statistic.

Joey Dunlop with 26 wins compared to John McGuinness establishes the/an absolute record. Other/lesser direct comparisons can be/are made. These other riders with fewer wins create a better perspective.

It's difficult to know what criteria and comparisons were applied; or how and when this was nominated. Very little info is present at the source.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 00:38, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
