Hatch: right or wrong[edit]

Is there any truth to the following quote by Orrin Hatch: "Take Carol Lam, for instance. .... She was a former law professor, no prosecutorial experience, and the former campaign manager in Southern California for Clinton...." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17857501/page/3/ If true, it would be a notable fact. Thanks. I've followed up and editted the article. It appears his explanation is implausible since Hatch's description doesn't fit the other guy either. But it is, as you say, an admission that it's inaccurate as to Lam. Thanks! rewinn 06:04, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're mistaken, Hatch's description does fit Bersin. I don't know where you got your information, but he served as visiting professor of law at the University of San Diego School of Law and as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Southern California Law Center. You have been misinformed on several counts.

Bersin was never either female nor "the former campaign manager in Southern California for Clinton"
"Visiting professor" or as adjunct faculty does not mean what Hatch suggested, that Lam (or, now his story is, Bersin) was an unqualified political appointee who had done nothing but teach law. To the contrary, adjunct/visiting faculty are highly qualified lawyers, specially hired by law schools to provide their experience to students. It is a mark of high distinction.
Contrary to Hatch, Bersin was very well qualified, since not only was he magna cum laude/Harvard, Rhodes Scholar/Oxford University and JD/Yale, but he was senior partner for 17 years at Munger, Tolles & Olson, specializing in complex RICO, securities, commercial and insurance litigation before state and federal trial and appellate courts ... and also Special Counsel to the Los Angeles Police Commission. He had a lot of trial experience, as Hatch would have known had he really been talking about Bersin.
If Hatch meant Bersin by this, he is a fool as well as confused as to Bersin's gender. rewinn 05:44, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rumors and POV[edit]

I have deleted a rumor about the Tenet case and the claim that something said by some politicians was false, for lack of documentations (there were links to the politicians' statements, but not to anything backing the claim that they were false) I also trimmed some other verbiage but only to shorten long paragraphs rewinn 04:51, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
