what is the metro politan population?[edit]

i understand it lists a city limits population of 5,283 people but this town is a major settlemnt in the cape incription and shark bay region of western australia certainly there must be suburban or metropolitan population surrounding this settlement. the Shire of Carnivon LGA could be considered its metropolitan area. 99.164.52.125 (talk) 19:22, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, the town limits cover right out to North and South Plantations - the Shire of Carnarvon covers an area of 46,663.5 square kilometres (compare this with 5,386 for the entire Perth metro). At the census there was only 399 people who were located in this vast area, 190 of whom were at Coral Bay, 237km to the North. Just 73 people live between Carnarvon and Shark Bay. Carnarvon seems to be a cross-roads town, but still small enough to guarantee some quiet way of living.

- Is there any public - non-religious - secondary school - Also, what is the future of this town ? Is the population growing ? - Is it South enough not to be hit by hurricanes ?

- Lots of sharks or very few ?

Orphaned references in Carnarvon, Western Australia[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Carnarvon, Western Australia's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Census2016":

  • From Shire of Carnarvon: Australian Bureau of Statistics (27 June 2017). "Carnarvon (S)". 2016 Census QuickStats. Retrieved 26 November 2017.
  • From Meekatharra, Western Australia: Australian Bureau of Statistics (27 June 2017). "Meekatharra (State Suburb)". 2016 Census QuickStats. Retrieved 5 January 2018.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 08:59, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
