"They" pronoun and NPOV / in-universe POV[edit]

Hi, I understand that in-universe, LaFontaine is "they", but it is massively confusing and plain wrong in English to use a plural for a singular entity, and I don't think it is coherent with a NPOV.

I remember a debate whether or not to use "she" for ships on a talk page (rather than "it"), and it was agreed that sticking to common English usage was NPOV.

'They' is frequently used in English for singular people. For instance: 'if someone rings your doorbell, you won't know what gender they are until you open the door'. Also, I understand Shakespeare uses 'they' as a non-gender specific singular 'they' in The Comedy of Errors (Act IV, scene 3) and other places, so I'd dispute your suggestion that it's 'plain wrong in English'. An increasing number of non-binary people are using 'they' rather than 'he' or 'she' (both of which are fairly inaccurate) and your suggested 'it' (which is dehumanising, though I'm sure no offence was meant). Once again, the singular 'they' is acceptable in English, widely used, and the most accurate and appropriate language to use here. Using the pronouns, 'they/them' to a person who prefers those pronouns instead of the, 'he/him' or 'she/her' pronouns should be respected because no matter the pronouns, they are still a person. What is single frame?[edit]
