Size of the site?...[edit]

The article says that the reactor is "located on a 5,228-acre (21 km²) site." Does anyone know why the site is so large? I would imagine that the reactor, cooling tower, etc. would all fit in one square km. Is the larger site to allow for new reactors if they're built there? From the satelite view on Google Maps it looks as if there's cultivated land quite close to the reactor. Perhaps Ameren rents out most of the land to local farmers? -Helvetica (talk) 01:25, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update, looking more at the satelite I also see houses rather close to the reactor. Perhaps Ameren owns and leases out this property as well? I've marked the 21 sq km as "citation needed" in the article. That's a little more than 4.5 km if the site is square, and there are definitely houses well within 2km of the reactor. -Helvetica (talk) 01:34, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
