Something does not add up here[edit]

The week of 10 March, the numbers of Covid-19 cases in Denmark and Norway rose by many hundred with the return of tourists returning from skiing in Austria. This was actually more than reported internally in Austria at the time. So something must be entirely wrong here, it is utterly unlikely that a few tourists returning from Austria will have more cases than Austria herself. Are there any reports on this? -- Egil (talk) 11:20, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An explanation could be that people, while on holidays, still tend to move within their peer group. In typical exchange locations like bars, typically relatively few guests will actually be Austrian. Also, many returns were actually from Italy rather than Austria (remember South Tyrol is part of Italy). But I do not have any quantitative data to support these arguments. Updating the charts[edit]

Sozialministerium updates their numbers multiple times a day. To get a consistent chart, we should only update once a day. I suggest using the numbers reported to the WHO. i generally agree that we should stay with consistent numbers! Given that the Sozialministerium updates consistently at 8am and 3pm i think this is consistent enough. Also, we can rely on 'official' numbers and do not have a full day delay. Lukas6283 (talk) 16:36, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I realised there is https://info.gesundheitsministerium.at/ and https://www.sozialministerium.at/Informationen-zum-Coronavirus/Neuartiges-Coronavirus-(2019-nCov).html where the prior gives irregular but frequent updates and the later gives 2 updates a day. i would suggest we stick to the later to avoid overload and inconsistency. after all, this is not a news outlet. An issue I see is that it is not clear if numbers reported at https://www.sozialministerium.at/Informationen-zum-Coronavirus/Neuartiges-Coronavirus-(2019-nCov).html are really "active cases" or actually total identified cases (total of active, recovered, death). I agree - but there are no secured numbers for recovered cases in Austria. I think we would need to change the graph saying 'Active and Recovered' and 'Deaths' 09:40, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Number of Testing[edit]

The sozialministerium also publish the number of testings everyday at 8. I recorded them startin 29.2. should we add them in the chart? BSchlag (talk)

Do you mean adding them to an existing chart or adding an additional chart? I guess the latter is quite easily doable. Nevertheless, I think adding it to the existing chart showing the daily increase in detected cases would perhaps make even more sense as it emphasizes the fact that the number of identified cases needs to be interpreted in light of the number of tests done. Weird Sunday[edit]

Hello, so I updated the numbers on Sunday April 12 morning (data for 9:30). The data for 15:00 hours actually appeared until ~22:27. However, the number reported for 15:00 hours is actually less than the number reported for April 12 9:30. Where are the source for "Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Austria by federal state"[edit]

Updating weekly new cases only AFTER each SUNDAY morning numbers are posted[edit]

Guys, you can only update the weekly new cases chart every SUNDAY, but only AFTER the numbers for SUNDAY have been posted. That's around noon local time. Otherwise, only 6 days worth of data is added, not 7 days. Thanks. --The Pollster (talk) 05:19, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline doesn't match the numbers from the "Sozialministerium"[edit]

In "Cases, deaths and recoveries", the source given is: ^[1] Following this URL, we eventually find ^[2] The numbers there are quite different from what we see here on "COVID-19 pandemic in Austria": on the referenced site (ages.at), the increase per day is much higher. E.g. 3.143 new cases on 22. Oct. Also, the number of active cases differ greatly: as of today 23. Oct ages.at reports 25.879 active cases, while the wikipedia article reports 18.266 cases. where do you get the case numbers for the timeline from ?[edit]

the numbers in the timeline do not match the numbers in the source you are quoting.

for instance, as of now, the source ^[1] you are quoting displays:

it means: 80.020 confirmed cases since the beginning of the recording, while the numbers that are displayed in the timeline for this day show 78,029. that doesn't go together.

following the link from the "Sozialministerium", we see an increase of cases in 22.10 of 3.198 cases. this delta, 3198 cases, can't be find in the timeline on the wikipedia page:

24.10.2020: 78029-74415 = 3614
23.10.2020: 74415-71844 = 2571
22.10.2020: 71844-69409 = 2435

On the "Sozialministerium"-page, we find the following numbers:

already the first entry doesn't match[edit]

Following the link from the Sozialministerium to the dasboard,,^[1] we find a Download button, which offers a zip file, contaning "Epikurve.csv". This file contains the daily new infections. The first lines read like this:

Sozialministerium - AGES Dashboard - Innenministerium data[edit]

Only the Interior Ministry numbers on TOTAL cases can be used every day.

The Sozialministerium cases are based on the AGES dashboard, which is highly dynamic and has incomplete state data that vary by hour of lab reporting.

Only Sozialministerium numbers for deaths, hospital patients, ICU patients and recovered can be used every day.
