I agree, I am looking for a term and discussion of situations where some group communicates often within the group but rarely communicates outside the group. This can cause a drift of knowledge, opinions, and beliefs away from more widely held views. We see this among certain religious groups, intellectual circles, proponents of a particular political ideology, and other places. What is an accepted term for this phenomenon?
