Breach of the peace conviction edit war[edit]

I have started a discussion at Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Brian_Welsh, where users may wish to offer their input as to whether the contentious material should be included. Thank you. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 20:07, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have protected the page for 24 hours until this dispute is resolved. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 20:42, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Having thought about it since the initial reversions, I think it is justified to remove the content under the people who are relatively unknown section of WP:BLP. Welsh is somewhat well known in Scotland as a football player and coach. He isn't a public figure in the way of a politician, or perhaps a football player of world renown. The conviction for breach of the peace does not relate to his football career in the way that his claim against the Hibs club doctor or the claim against Cowdenbeath for unfair dismissal do. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 21:02, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's worth pointing out that the content was initially added by an IP address who was making a series of controversial edits to the articles of various individuals and organisations within Scottish football, citing instances of misbehaviour and perhaps giving them undue weight within the overall article. I attempted to provide some balance to the particular instance of concern in response to that edit. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 21:07, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed this content again today. It should be noted that it is sourced to the Daily Mail, which is not a reliable source. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 16:51, 5 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
