Tag Bombing

I have never really understood this propensity to tag-bomb articles with all manner of tags. In addition to the plethora of citation needed and page references needed tags, there are also numerous tags for e.g. quantify?, when? by whom? which? clarification needed? etc.

I would be the first to acknowledge that some of the expression in this article requires improvement - too many statements are overqualified or ambiguous. The tags have been there for more than six months, and nothing has changed. Wouldn't it be preferable to rework some of these passages rather than tag-bomb it?? I started trying to fix a few of these tags earlier this year - but alas, this only led to new tags being added to other sections.

In the past, I developed this article by writing the history section, and expanding the section on branding concepts. I had entertained notions of returning to improve the rest of the article. However, in light of the excessive tag-bombing that has occured in each and every section of the article, I confess that now I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

I wonder if members of the tag-team realise that their excessive tagging is not constructive - it turns editors off the idea of adding to articles or amending content in articles? BronHiggs (talk) 02:02, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
