Rules changes for boxing in 2014 Commonwealth Games[edit]

I have been watching the Men's welterweight bouts and have noticed that the format of the boxing has changed. The bouts are now done professional style. Bouts are done in three 3-minute rounds. No head guards are used. Points are no longer awards on punches landed, instead the winner of the round is awarded 10 points and the loser is awarded 9 points. Five judges score the bouts but the scores used come from three judges that are randomly selected before the start of the bout. The names of the judges used in the scoring are not revealed until the end of the bout. Please check if this format is used on all boxing matches and update the Wikipedia articles accordingly. 90.206.156.58 (talk) 13:34, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This rule change was enforced by the International Boxing Association last year. It applies to all men's matches. They also want to call this style of boxing 'Olympic' instead of 'Amateur.' 2.121.52.95 (talk) 12:24, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The professional-style scoring system applies to the women's bouts as well. All other rules are still the same for women's boxing. 90.206.158.137 (talk) 16:59, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
