Jacob Edward Fisk[edit]

Fisk was added as a prank years ago and deleted the same day. Check the history. Stop putting him back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmharnisch (talkcontribs) 16:50, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article Future[edit]

Obviously this is early days, as all I did really to create this page was copy the information in the main article, and then format it a bit better (tidy, organize, and add correct reference formatting). However some suggestions for future edits spring to mind:

  1. less reliance on blackdahlia.info! a great site, but this page relies on it too much.
  2. General clean up. In some cases its very wordy. Concise and accurate is better.

Hopefully I've got the ball rolling and it'll get off to a good start!

Requires Significant Factual Update[edit]

This article requires an update based upon the LA district attorney's release of suppressed files and wiretaps implicating George Hill Hodel in the murder. His son, retired SF Homicide Detective Steve Hodel published a book which then generated more investigation. The LA DA finally stated in a letter that if Hodel were still alive he would have prosecuted him based upon the new information.

The article structure could also be renamed The Black Dahlia Avenger as that is how the killer referred to himself and the suspects moved down into a section. An overview of the killings should be placed first. References to the Elizabeth Short page should be added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Briangmilnes (talkcontribs) 23:58, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're assuming that Hodel's book is factual, which it is not. See more of what I mean below under This article is all wrong and needs a serious rewrite. MagnoliaSouth (talk) 20:59, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A Mess[edit]

This page is such a mess it's hard to know where to begin. The reliance on sources which are not published by third parties, not by professional researchers or writers, or even just newsgroup postings is unsupportable.Wjhonson (talk) 21:58, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the Norman Chandler section we learn that, "Wolfe's claim that Short was a prostitute is at odds with the Los Angeles County district attorney's files, which plainly state that she was not, as Wolfe asserted, pregnant."
What? Claim: "She was a prostitute." Rebuttal: "No, she was not pregnant." These are two separate, unrelated things. Yes, I see Wolfe's assertion at the end, but the non-pregnancy answers to the prostitution claim, not to the pregnancy assertion. It's just a weirdly confusing sentence mixing two Wolfe claims. Robert Hansen[edit]

A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article, Jul 20, 1949 says a Los Angeles nightclub owner named Robert Hansen was shot through a lung on July 19, 1949 by a stripper named Lola Titus. [1] It has to be the same guy as the suspect. I don't know what it has to do with anything, but it seems interesting. Hypercallipygian (talk) 00:50, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This "article" is all wrong and needs a serious rewrite.[edit]

To begin with, it contradicts itself. Take a look under the Current Suspects section. Today, it lists Joseph A. Dumais as a "current" suspect but then Dumais' section flatly states that he was confirmed to be at Ft. Dix at the time of Short's murder. This means that he isn't a suspect, so he shouldn't be on that list. Also, there is mention that many of the 25 suspects were eliminated. Many? Then this means not all, right? So where are they on the Current Suspects list. What about the Chicago police officer? Why isn't he on the list? Was he eliminated? If so, how? There needs to be clarity with reliable sources. This case is LOADED with false information. For example, that retired Hodel police officer wrote a book on his father, but it's chock full of inaccuracies. The cadaver dogs that he tries to use as "evidence" is no proof whatsoever. Doctor Hodel (the suspect, not the police officer) had known abortionist associates. Who is to say that he too was not also an abortionist? Gee, if Dr. Hodel was an abortionist, guess what a cadaver dog would hit in the basement?
