Comment[edit]

Not enough context in this article. --MacRusgail 18:53, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rather too much about the shop - but just passing through. Ben MacDui (Talk) 18:02, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Town?[edit]

Is Bixter a town? (Some more specific type of location?) RJFJR (talk) 19:02, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

RJFJR No, Bixter is definitely not a town - the only places in Shetland that could be considered towns are Lerwick, Scalloway and Brae. Village is probably the most apt word I can think of. Griceylipper (talk) 20:20, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Griceylipper Thank you. Added 'is a village' in the intro of the article so it is clear what it is. Do we need to find a reference for its 'village' status? RJFJR (talk) 11:35, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
RJFJR This is about the best I can find - it's from a part of the Shetland Islands Council's website, hopefully that would be suitable? We're just not big on classifying or designating places as towns or villages or settlements here; for some places the houses are so spread out that these terms don't really make much sense, they just are what they are!
