Name[edit]

Is the current name "Eneco Tour of Benelux" the right one? The official website and the uci calender give as name "Eneco Tour". Also most cycling-dedicated website, such as cyclingnews and cyclingwebsite, use this name, although this is not consistent. Cyclingnews.com uses "eneco tour of benelux" for the editions until 2007, and cyclingwebsite has as main name "benelux tour".

The number of google hits are:

  • "eneco tour" -benelux: 192000
  • "eneco tour of benelux": 4870
  • "eneco tour of the benelux": 240 (I included this because this makes more sense to my grammatical senses.)

I have never seen it reported as "eneco tour of the benelux" in Dutch newspapers. Is it used in that way in English newspapers? If not, I would suggest we use the official shorter name "Eneco Tour". --EdgeNavidad (talk) 15:00, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Djharrity moved it three years ago, saying, "most publications/references use the entire Eneco Tour of Benelux (otherwise, it would be akin to Amgen Tour (for Amgen Tour of California))". I'm not struck by that reasoning, it should be on the most common name used elsewhere in English. Google results in English suggest:
I think that makes it quite clear. SeveroTC 18:37, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
