Previous reference that dog treats are unhealthy according to "popular belief"[edit]

Unable to source popular belief that dog treats are unhealthy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.143.120.206 (talk) 07:51, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Original voice[edit]

Looks like the name of the original voice actor is a subject of some contention. Various edits have changed the name to Bill Tullis, Dick Beeler, and Eric Harlan. I've reverted it to Bill Tullis for now, based on the only reference I could find (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HufSLOmtnoA), and the fact that I can't find evidence that the other two even exist. A proper reference would be appreciated, however.107.3.165.148 (talk) 21:52, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested Edits[edit]

As I have a conflict of interest, I would like to suggest some edits to the page.

First, I suggest trimming the following unsourced content:

  • "Purina products are made in the United States; however, they buy some of the ingredients from other countries with the biggest supplier being China. This data comes directly from Purina as stated on their Facebook page."  Done
  • "It is marketed as being 'more healthy than table scraps.' This is supported by Nestlé Purina PetCare, who offers various coupons and other savings for Beggin' Strips."
I did a quick search for the first phrase and the hits tended to be Wikipedia or mirrors. Not finding any sources supporting the phrase was used in marketing, I removed it. The second sentence purpots to be supported by a source, but the source doesn't exist, so removed.  Done--S Philbrick(Talk) 23:49, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Second, I suggest updating the second paragraph of the Marketing section regarding the annual pet parade event as follows:

  • Making it more clear that the pet parade used to be a Beggin' Strips event but was made a more general Purina event in 2019[1]
 Done--S Philbrick(Talk) 23:54, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Suggest either deleting the last two sentences or rephrasing them in the past tense, as there is no longer a $5,000 prize.
 Done--S Philbrick(Talk) 23:57, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Third, once/if the above edits are made, I think the {{refimprove}} tag at the top can be removed.

Thanks for taking a look and let me know if there's anything else I can provide. CorporateM (Talk) 17:00, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

References

  1. ^ "Blues Puppy to Grand Marshal St. Louis' Mardi Gras Pet Parade". KMOX-AM. January 30, 2019. Retrieved May 22, 2019. 2019 marks the first time the Purina brand will be the title sponsor the parade. Previous parades were sponsored by the Purina Beggin' Strips brand.
Thanks @Sphilbrick:. What about the phrase "This is supported by Nestlé Purina PetCare, who offers various coupons and other savings for Beggin' Strips." The citation appears to be a link to search results at a trade publication, with no actual results. CorporateM (Talk) 00:08, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
CorporateM, Sorry, looked at that sentence, but then didn't complete the removal. S Philbrick(Talk) 01:01, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

One more tweak[edit]

Either @Collect: or @Sphilbrick: added a "citation needed" tag to the sentence "There are six flavors currently available," so I looked into it. Apparently, there are currently seven flavors (see here and use WP:CALC) but this number is in constant fluctuation as flavors are routinely discontinued or added (sometimes temporarily on a promotional basis). I suggest trimming this sentence or reworking it into a broader, more general statement like: "it comes in a variety of flavors". CorporateM (Talk) 17:08, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

CorporateM, I don't recall adding the template, but I reworked the sentence, and added a cite. S Philbrick(Talk) 17:43, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
