Requested move 4 January 2024[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved. All moved, as an uncontested technical request. Any objection within a reasonable time frame should result in the move or moves being reverted.

Note that this move includes Nalanda (7°40'N 80°38'E); the objection there seems based on the article possibly being a duplicate of an existing article; this should be handled at AfD or another suitable forum. – Proper formatting of location coordinates (using primes rather than apostrophes). Please note that other closely related RMs are ongoing, e.g., at Talk:Ilukpelessa (7°1'N 80°54'E). — BarrelProof (talk) 02:05, 4 January 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. – robertsky (talk) 01:07, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is already an article at Nalanda, Sri Lanka, and it seems to be about a different place. If you still think Nalanda (7°40'N 80°38'E) should be redirected there, please indicate what you think should be done with the current article that has that title. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:37, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of points,
  1. There is only one place in Sri Lanka known as Nalanda. Nalanda is famous for Nalanda Gedige, considered the geographical centre of Sri Lanka.
  2. I searched for the village Nalanda using this government website. It gives two search results with exact matches (among 24 overall results). It says both are in Naula Divisional Secretariat. One in Nalanda Grama Niladhari division, one in Lihinipitiya GN division. I searched Lhinipitiya in Google Maps, and apparently, it is located adjacent to Nalanda. So there is a very good chance, these two villages are one village. Even if these are two villages only Nalanda in the Nalanda GN division notable per WP:GEOLAND, Nalanda in the Lihinipitiya GN division fails WP:GEOLAND.
  3. Nalanda, Sri Lanka is the natural name per WP:CRITERIA. But Nalanda (7°40'N 80°38'E) got geocoords correctly. So redirect Nalanda (7°40'N 80°38'E) to Nalanda, Sri Lanka and change geocoords of Nalanda, Sri Lanka. Chanaka L (talk) 02:39, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
