Baltimore ColtsBaltimore Colts (disambiguation) — Plan on redirecting the "Baltimore Colts" title to the Indianapolis Colts page, since most people think of the Indianapolis team when they think of Baltimore Colts. Would rather have the disambiguation page at "Baltimore Colts (disambiguation)" to avoid confusion. Jgera5 (talk) 16:09, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What data do you have to show that this is fact the case?--Labattblueboy (talk) 18:40, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose for now since I disagree with the assessment that "most people think of the Indianapolis team when they think of Baltimore Colts". As I stated on what is now archived on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Football League/Archive 6#Baltimore Colts page, there has been an edit war on this page in the past, either redirecting to the Indianapolis Colts article or Baltimore Colts (1947–50). And based on Google hits, I find no evidence that one of them is more commonly searched for than the other. It also complicates matters when there have been already several discussions on Talk:Indianapolis Colts and Talk:Indianapolis Colts/Archive 1 about splitting the Baltimore Colts 1953-1983 history onto its own page – mostly from Baltimore users and reliable references who disagree with the official NFL records, and advocate that the league should instead bifurcate the two different cities in the franchise's history because, as one said, "for all intents and purposes there are two Colts teams--one that played in Baltimore until March 1984, and one that has played in Indianapolis since March 1984".[1] Thus the disambig page is more of a compromise between these various issues. Personally, I'm neutral on the whole issue with the Colts. (As a Steelers fan, I'm more interested in the Cleveland Browns relocation controversy, but the Colts' midnight move to Indianapolis was partially--though not anywhere near the main cause--responsible for the Cleveland Browns move.) But most football fans aren't going to know of the AAFC's Baltimore Colts, as with the CFL Baltimore Stallions. Besides Chris Berman and a few others like myself, who cares about the CFL south of Canada anyways? I'm just throwing it out there. Jgera5 (talk) 12:20, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move. Base title will redirect to History of the Baltimore Colts as proposed. Cúchullain t/c 22:12, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Baltimore ColtsBaltimore Colts (disambiguation) – Following the move, the undisambiguated title would become a redirect to History of the Baltimore Colts. I think that most people would agree that the NFL team is the primary topic for this title. The move would align this title with other well-established sports teams that moved to other cities, like Brooklyn Dodgers, Philadelphia Athletics, and St. Louis Browns. • Comment: My objection stated in the previous 2010 move discussion no longer applies. In 2012, consensus was eventually made to split content from the Indianapolis Colts article to a new History of the Baltimore Colts page, and thus there is no longer a dispute about either redirecting to, or deciding a primary topic between, just the Indianapolis Colts article or Baltimore Colts (1947–50).
