Desert Rat term ; I initially deleted it because it seemed a derogatory description of residents of the Mojave Desert. After reading the desert rat article and the talk page, there doesn't seem to be a consensus as to this being an endearing term. The discussion suggest that it's a "...put down by some - especially Angelenos..." That is enough to suggest "desert rat" is not widely viewed as a compliment. I recoment re-wording that section to ... "and a few other desert enthusiasts" or something less controversial. Marriedtofilm 29:41, Sep 29, 2004 (UTC)

Roadmap is inaccurate[edit]

The roadmap accompanying this article is inaccurate. SR178 is not the north-south road from Trona to SR190; SR178 ends before Trona well before the south edge of this map. See http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist9/planning/docs/tcr_sr178.pdf for official Caltrans description of SR178. I also noticed that the USGS topographical maps are incorrect. The roads shown are Kern and Inyo county roads; Trona Wildrose Road in the south leading to Emigrant Campground, and Panamint Valley Road leading north to the intersection with SR190.
