Scanderbeg wounds?[edit]

  1. AFAIK he only fell down the horse and while without consciousness, his bodyguards fought against the Turks, which wanted to cut his head off. He only dislocated his arm when falling down the horse link . This link is one of the few descriptions of the battle. This author is used also by Noli as a reference. What do you think of including it, only for the battles? Practically he is telling the story of Lavardin and Barletius but he is in English version. We need some descriptions on the battles and only Barletius has such. Barletius is not a participant but heard about them by eyewitnesses, Skanderbeg soldiers. I know it can be considered some sort of primary, but anyway we need to find some text for the battles. Aigest (talk) 13:38, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  2. No wounds Aigest (talk) 14:40, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Wound in shoulder only once Aigest (talk) 14:59, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Again a wound when he fell down the horse.

Majority of the authors agree that he fell down the horse that battle and wounded in shoulder, but not from enemy hand. The original story is in Barletius, later scholars just followed him. Aigest (talk) 15:03, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are probably right. Dhimitër Frangu says that he fell off his force, on a tree, on his arm. He says that he lay there motionless until some Turks dismounted and came to cut off his head until he rose up and cut them all down instead. How do you think it should be changed?--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 20:19, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Albanian soldiers military uniform[edit]

Albanian military uniform during Scanderbeg times Aigest (talk) 13:41, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Must be included i think --Vinie007 16:45, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, very interesting! Thanks for sharing. I think it should probably be included in the Skanderbeg article in a separate section describing his style of warfare. I have always thought of making a separate article on the Army of League of Lezha.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 20:24, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. I am trying to find some info on his military tactics meanwhile. Aigest (talk) 15:26, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article title?[edit]

I was being a bit arbitrary when I chose this title since I do not know the real name for the campaign. Should the title be moved to a better one or should it stay?--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 20:26, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IMO it's a good descriptive title (with the exception of the year, unless Ballaban had more than two campaigns). The article contains four battles, and even if they split to have their own articles, this may stay as an umbrella article. --Sulmues (talk) 01:07, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I planned the two other battles for two other articles. They were both in 1464. These were two other campaigns, while this one is one campaign but with two armies.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 17:05, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind. They were all in 1465.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 19:20, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Skaderbeg battles description[edit]

How about using old sources on description of battles. I think they are not challenged by later sources and are of big interest. If they are challenged by later sources in numbers we should use the later numbers. What do you think guys? Aigest (talk) 15:28, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have access to Barleti? I tried to use Dhimiter Frangu from 1480 but his descriptions are limited.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 17:05, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have Moore above, which is based on Barleti descriptions. Aigest (talk) 07:21, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Skanderbeg nephew[edit]

A bit out of topic but look guys, this man killed last nephew of Skanderbeg. Very interesting. It might go to Kastrioti family article. Aigest (talk) 15:37, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Moved page[edit]

Title is very misleading. What does it mean? Whose idea was that? Aigest (talk) 07:53, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the latest edits. Now it looks like someone is pushing a personal agenda. This campaign is known in history with the name of Ballaban, from the other figures only his brother Jonuz Bey is mentioned in this campaign. How this should be called Albanian (Muslim) campaign (1443-1479)!!! And what about other campaigns where converted Serbs, Greeks, Bulgarians, Vlachs etc led Ottoman armies against Scanderbeg? Should they be called Serb (Muslim) campaign (1443-1479), Greek (Muslim) campaign (1443-1479) etc .....what is this nonsense. It should stop. P.S. even the dates are wrong. Furthermore, the editor who made these edits did not cite any of his changes.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 20:10, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted it to its previous version unless the reviser is willing to cite his sources.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 15:43, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Gaius Claudius Nero, there is a clam that "Ballaban was the only Ottoman commander to inflict severe casualties on the Albanian side". I asked for citation. Did you have any specific reason to remove cn tag I added into this article. If not please be so kind and return deleted tag into this article.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 17:06, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The main purpose of my revision was to undo what another editor added to the article without citing any of it. Anyway, I will rewrite the sentence.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 22:37, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Taking in consideration that there were Albanians both in Skanderbeg's and Ottoman forces, when you wrote "Ballaban had previously inflicted severe casualties on the Albanian side" who exactly did you have in mind. Please clarify.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:47, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
