Photos about the different types

Comments removed about material comparison, emissivity of light or dark shades of cover[edit]

The comments comparing fabric, aluminum, and other covers were inaccurate and clear showing a bias away from some types, and not providing any basis for claims. It seems to be driven by commercial interests of that author. Previous content on be retracted by the author.

Solar thermal[edit]

It can be used to cover the solar thermal system in the summer, not enough heat.

Rope[edit]

Fire Hazard[edit]

I noticed this page has a "benefits" section. It might be worthwhile having a "bad things" section too. Plus according to the current read of the article awnings were used in Egypt, Syria and Rome in antiquity and then nothing till either the Civil War or the 19th century? How about awnings in China. Plenty of pictures. Plus since tents were commen way before market stalls in Syria - think Wooly Mammoth - it stands to reason it didn't take them that much longer to add awnings. Tent awnings. AFAIK there is no other word for a piece of shade cloth attached to a tent. Lots of gaps and time jumps in this current article.
