Soon after its release, DIP licensed this product to Atari for sale as the Portfolio in the UK and US" According to the book "The story behind the creation of the Atari Portfolio" released by Amazon, "the Atari licensed the PPC design after seeing a prototype being showcased on CNN, The production casing and revised set of circuit boards were designed and manufactured by Atari Japan and finally released in Sep 1989. And as par of its licensing deal with Atari, DIP could purchase production Portfolios at a discounted price which it then rebranded using a different bezel and sticky labels as the production version of the DIP Pocket PC."
