Review contributions of Indians on innovations that are shaping the world[edit]

Contributions of Indians on innovations that are shaping the world. I have created a page on Ashish Vaswani https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ashish_Vaswani Need feedback. Sakchy (talk) 22:55, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

@Alexandermcnabb: Regarding the notability tag: I believe this page should meet the notability criteria for academics. As you can see on Google Scholar, Vaswani is highly cited and his work is extremely impactful in his field. Enervation (talk) 06:25, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya - NACADEMIC gives us, "The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources" and while people often use a high citation count to assert notability, it's not actually what passes us through WP:GNG - "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." If you feel strongly, by all means remove the tag - but more sourcing in mainstream RS for Vaswani would be at least helpful, IMHO. Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 06:55, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Alexandermcnabb& @Enervation For notability: Added more RS from WSJ, CNBC and other sources. The seminal paper "Attention is all you need" introduced the technology that power chatGPT. [link] Sakchy (talk) 20:42, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Sakchy for adding reliable sources. It's always good to have more sources but passing GNG is not necessary, as NACADEMIC says "failure to meet either the general notability guideline or other subject-specific notability guidelines is irrelevant if an academic is notable under this guideline".
