This article is written in Indian English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, analysed, defence) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Transport in Asansol was nominated for deletion. The discussion was closed on 13 January 2018 with a consensus to merge. Its contents were merged into Asansol. Oldest mine[edit]

I had read somewhere that Narayankuri was the first coal mine in the country. Now, Asit Madeka mentions Sitarampur as the oldest mine. Probably, Sitarampur is the oldest mine still in operation. Please clarify. - P.K.Niyogi 03:05, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Terribly poor article[edit]

I have just ripped into this article because it is terribly poor. It is almost entirely unsourced; it contained a fair bit of copyright violation (& there may still be some in there); it had (and to some extent still has) pointless, trivial lists; it has too many images, often of poor quality and some without correct permissions; the style of writing is not great, and is sometimes POV-y ... I could go on.

I'll be back to fix up some more before too long but I am hoping that someone might at least be able to source big chunks of it so that we have something to work off. If that does not happen then I'll probably have to delete those chunks. - Sitush (talk) 17:53, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tourist Attractions[edit]

Nice humour!! Honestly saying, there are tens of good places to be visited in and around the city. I simply urge that someone( anyone but me ), would take up the initiative to fill in that much needed detail. Bengapqh ^Talk . Well, this was my last sribbling at wikipedia. You're gonna miss me.

"City of Brotherhood"[edit]

@Philomath.26: I wrote on your talk page that I didn't see any issue in adding the fact that Asansol is known as the "City of Brotherhood" to the article, but I've just realized the slogan is actually already mentioned in the infobox. If you're on mobile, you may have missed that. Also, @Toddy1: I think the sentence should just be removed from the article lead. DJ-Aomand (talk) 19:14, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I added the citations because it was more appropriate than edit-warring with Philomath.26. If you remove the information from the lead, please move the citations to where it gives the slogan in the infobox. Governing body of Town[edit]

I removed the list of assembly constituencies and their ministers from the infobox because they are not directly relevant to the town specifically.
