#2 or #3?[edit]

The page on Chief Scout Executive says that Mr. Schuck was the #3 CSE, not #2. No idea which is correct though.

There was one guy that was briefly before James E. West, where there is a mention on his page. Chris 16:38, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The one in question is Mr. Fretwell who the CSE page says was 1943-1948. Mr. Schucks page says he started in 1943... Naraht 19:13, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Fretwell was the second CSE, Schucks was the third. One thing I am trying to verify is if Schucks was DCSE or not. Some things I read said he was, and was 'passed over' for 'outsider' Fretwell (Fretwell WAS heavily involved with the BSA, but as a volunteer, not a professional). Now as I've been reading on Schucks, I can't find any indication he held that title. ---Emb021 Nov 21 2006

Rewrite[edit]

I've rewritten and expanded this article, correcting some serious errors in the process. For example, the edit by anon IP136.182.158.129 in 2006 stating that Schuck died in 1959 while in office as chief Scout exec. According to his New York Times obituary of February 25, 1963, Schuck died three years later. Also, he first started work at the national office in 1922, not 1931.  JGHowes  talk 18:11, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
