Turkish name[edit]

It is derived from Old Persian arsalān, meaning "brave man" or "lion  ?? The name Arsalan (also Arslan or Aslan) is a Turkish name for lion and used as first or family name (Alp Arslan) for centuries within Turkey, Iran and Central Asia. Mehrdad 14:16, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Although it is widely used in Middle East;the word "Arslan" is etymologically Turkic in origin. Isatay 14:54, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arslan=Aslan[edit]

İn Wikipedia, tehere are two articles for Aslan and Arslan. But these are only two pronounciatons of the same word. and both are widely used in Turkish. it is like pronounciatons of "potato" and "tomato" in English. those two articles should be composed. Isatay 14:54, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
