Clarification[edit]

Does anyone know what kind of knighthood he got ? Was it Knight Bachelor or Order of the British Empire or something else ? Michael Drew 02:42, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

May have had something to do with his intelligence service for the empire. Also the experience with real spies and their bureaucratic masters would contribute to the realism of his films on the subject. Interestingly his spy master contributed the lyrics to songs in his movie 'thief of bagdad'. A typical man of his times ranking with Ian Flemming. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.103.62.31 (talk) 17:24, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deserted?[edit]

Confusing Intro Sentence[edit]

"Sir Alexander Korda (born Sándor László Kellner, 16 September 1893 – 23 January 1956),[1][2] the first film director to receive the honour."

This needs to be re-written to emphasize that the "honour" is referring to the formal prefix: "Sir." Perhaps a phrase could be inserted mentioning the date he received the British knighthood. 98.19.180.42 (talk) 04:23, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Internment of ashes[edit]

This article says that Korea's Korda’s ashes were interred at Golders Green, cited to ODNB, which makes perfect sense. But while working up Church of St Giles, Stoke Poges, I’ve found a few sources which suggest that his ashes are in the Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens, e.g., [1]. Is this a, repeated, error or were Korda’s ashes moved? Would be grateful if anyone could clarify. KJP1 (talk) 06:35, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Was that North Korea's ashes, or South Korea's? EEng 15:51, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Autocorrect is a pain. KJP1 (talk) 19:05, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As am I, I've heard it said. EEng 19:44, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
According to the last few pages of Charles Drazin's 2002 biography "Korda: Britain's Only Movie Mogul", Korda's funeral/cremation were held at Golder's Green (already correctly cited to ODNB), but his ashes were not interred there, and were not finally interred until some 3 years after his death, at Stoke Poges. I will ensure this is correctly stated in the article. Crisso (talk) 01:55, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
