Reads like a fan's biography[edit]

The style of this article is not at all like an encyclopaedia. It reads like an ad for a museum or an ad for a published autobiography. (or an ad for an upcoming movie "The Perfect Soldier"?)

I think this article should stay, but almost every sentence has to be changed. The article should focus on the facts of his life, not on flowery descriptions. This:

he used what was at hand to reach his goal of making his country safe for his people: a knife, a Leatherman, a stick and his wits.

Should be replaced by:

he used a knife, a Leatherman, and a stick.

I'll make that change now, but it's just a drop in the ocean of what needs to be done to fix this article. Gronky (talk) 02:24, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How long with Khmer Rouge army ?[edit]

Born 1973, conscripted into the Khmer Rouge army at 10, fought for the Khmer Rouge until 1983 ? --Lysytalk 11:19, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly Aki Ra could not have been born in 1973 and then "conscripted at around 10 years of age." Vietnam invaded Kampuchea in late 1978, so he would have been only 5, too young for military service even by the KR's barbarous standards. Since he did not go to Thailand with the rest of the KR military, he could not have fought for the KR after January 7, 1979. Either he is at least 5 years older than he claims or his KR service is a myth. Cmacauley (talk) 19:09, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
From the aforementioned manga about his life as a child soldier, he fought in the guerilla against the vietnamese invaders, so why do you say that he could not have fought after 1979? The Khmer Rouge guerilla surrendered only in 1993 if I'm not mistaken...92.144.209.172 (talk) 18:42, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

After January of 1979 all KR troops took refuge in the Thai border camps. There is no record from Aki Ra or anyone else that he ever lived in a Thai border camp. Also, a manga might not be considered a reliable source on his biography. Cmacauley (talk) 19:59, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Manga[edit]

Why isn't the manga Aki Ra by Fukuyi Akira mentioned?92.144.209.172 (talk) 18:40, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
