Beseiged[edit]

The Aizu forces were eventually besieged at Tsuruga Castle, the seat of the Aizu domain, on October 8 (lunar calendar Auguest 23) 1868. Seven 02:28, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Modern Aizu[edit]

I've reformatted things and moved this article so that we can expand it to cover the modern region of Aizu as opposed to just the old feudal domain. Unfortunately, that means that this is the one article in Category:Domains of Japan that doesn't end in "domain", but this is very much a living region of Japan with its own dialect, culture, and traditions and should use the most common current name. If the history section gets bigger, we can always split off the domain stuff and summarize here. The bulk of the article is given over to history, but hopefully folks will fill in the blanks and talk about Aizu as it is today as well as how it was in the past. I live here; I'll try to do my best to expand the article when I get the chance. I've got two good histories with which to begin doing so. — BrianSmithson 13:25, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More power to ya. I am a former Aizu resident and definitely think the article could use some expanding. One glaring omission for example is no mention of Aizu's climate particularly the, um, snow that Aizu is known for, especially in contrast to the rest of Fukushima. Split of Aizu into multiple articles (at least up to 3 for now)[edit]

It is a good idea to split this article into 3 articles but keep this article for Aizu region only. The following articles to be created upon separation: Aizu District, Iwashiro and Aizu Domain --BigBang19 (talk) 19:18, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
