"Referent"?[edit]

>>She was the referent En Marche! in the Marne department during the presidential campaign of 2017. <<
What is the intended meaning of referent here? -- Picapica (talk) 06:03, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"En Marche" had no formal structures yet, so "les référents" (never used for another party, AFAK) were Macron's missi dominici in every département, in some way... Great Leader's representative among the "Province"/"Region" (the whole France outside Paris) would be a correct translation, but may be considered not neutral enough. --Minorities observer (talk) 07:09, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for that detailed explanation, Mo. Now I just need to think of a way of getting that as succinctly as I can into the article -- because it's important information, I think. Merci encore. -- Picapica (talk) 23:45, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

'Departmental contact person' or 'Departmental manager' ? --Minorities observer (talk) 06:05, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was thinking of something along those lines too. I've now rewritten the Member of the National Assembly paragraph. Hope I've got all the facts right. -- Picapica (talk) 02:04, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
