Is this article really merited? There are only two articles on Wikipedia that could use this nickname, and every version of this name is directly derived from the original "Lamb of God", so later references can extremely easily be listed under "in popular culture" and similar sections in Lamb of God, which is always preferable to having a whole separate article. It also seems rather biased in favor of the Latin spelling, considering that both actual pages using this name are called "Lamb of God", not "Agnus Dei". Overall, seems entirely unnecessary, an extra level of separation (and complication) that's truly unneeded. -Silence 05:10, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

I think it is needed. I oppose merging this with Lamb of God, as I had pulled this information from Lamb of God. "Agnus Dei" is not a nickname whatsoever, it is a Latin phrase that has been a part of the liturgical canon for centuries, and a part of the setting of the Mass for centuries. "Lamb of God" is merely the English translation, and all of the items mentioned on the disambiguation page are specifically for the Latin "Agnus Dei", not "Lamb of God", with the exception of the Ecclesiastical art reference, but that is pipe linked to Agnus Dei (art), I just kept the wording of the original entry. For example, Agnus Dei (musical composition) is titled "Agnus Dei", and is in Latin, so putting it on a page titled "Lamb of God" makes little sense to me. Wow. Either you don't know that I'm perfectly aware of every single thing you just said, or you are a superb actor. Or both, I don't know. You seem to be surprisingly unfamiliar with Wikipedia naming or disambiguation conventions; "Agnus Dei" and "Lamb of God" cover the exact same topic, therefore they are a single article, and the name for that article is based on which of those terms of the more common, which in this case is "Lamb of God". Creating a POV fork over which name is more common (by trying to transfer a ton of references to an article named after the Latin of the term) is not acceptable, especially when there's no page at Agnus Dei for this to be a disambiguation of. If you want to petition to have the article Lamb of God moved to the article Agnus Dei, then go ahead, but don't try this backhanded silliness. -Silence 18:28, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

I have no idea what you are or are not aware of, I am simply trying to explain my reasoning for moving the information around. If you are familiar with the topics I am discussing, that is helpful, as you will hopefully better understand my intention. I would like to think that I have a reasonably decent understanding of naming and disambiguation conventions, but I am always learning, and certainly do not know everything. "Agnus Dei" and "Lamb of God" do cover similar information, which is why the article currently discusses both the English term and the setting of the Mass. I do not feel that creating Agnus Dei (disambiguation) is a fork, in my mind, a fork is when the same content is discussed in different ways in different articles. What I was attempting to do was not to fork, but to split, and what I was splitting off was the section that contained other uses for the term, specifically those that used the Latin name, while leaving in the disambiguation link that used the English phrase, to Lamb of God (band). You assert that my creating Agnus Dei (disambiguation) was a POV edit, the POV being that "Agnus Dei" is the more common phrase. However, you assert that the article name is based on which of the two phrases is more common, and assert that that is "Lamb of God". This to me seems to be a POV in favor of "Lamb of God", so I think it's a bit unfair for you to assert that I have made a POV edit while at the same time asserting a POV that is different. Personally, I don't see it as a POV issue, I'm simply looking at is as a language issue: Agnus Dei can redirect to Lamb of God, as it does now, Lamb of God can discuss the English phrase and the Mass setting "Agnus Dei", and Lamb of God can hold any disambiguation links that pertain with to the English phrase, such as Lamb of God (band), and Agnus Dei (disambiguation) can hold disambiguation links that pertain specifically to the Latin use of the phrase. I object to your reversion on Lamb of God, [1], as you simply reverted to the old version of the article. I spent some time formatting and wikilinking the information that was displayed on Agnus Dei (disambiguation) [2], which was lost when you redirected it to Lamb of God [3]. I would have much preferred if you had moved the text as I had adjusted it to Lamb of God, rather than undoing the work I have done.
