Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Surya missile be merged into Agni-VI. The Surya missile is a codename of Agni-VI missile , so there is no relevance of having two articles providing the same information. gauravpruthi 07:48, 27 March 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gauravpruthi (talkcontribs)

Oppose - "The Surya missile is a codename of Agni-VI missile" can you prove it?

I will tell you why I ask this question. Surya missile reportedly has 2 types of its own Surya-1 and Surya-2. Surya-1 is speculated to have a range of 8,000 km and the Surya-2's range will probably be 12,000 km or more (none of which matches with the speculated range of Agni-VI). The reports about "Surya" missile was first published in "The Nonproliferation Review, Winter" in '95 p. 160. Agni-IV or Agni-III were not even in the picture then. What I'm trying to say is, the development of Agni-VI depends on the success of AGNI-V and since at the time of the report about "Surya", there was no Agni III, IV or V, the claim that Agni-VI is "Surya" doesn't add up. The rumour about "Surya (ICBM)" is most probably a propaganda with no foundation except for wishful thinking. Or, it may very well be that "Surya" was actually what we know as "Agni-V" or it's "Agni-VII", who knows? I hope this helps clear the air about "Surya (ICBM)" a little. I think, the Article about AGNI-VI is best the way it is. :) Brendon is here 12:51, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dont merge - I agree with User:Brendon111. No concrete information available for either, specially Surya. Anir1uph (talk) 06:17, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of Surya missile into Agni-VI[edit]

(WP:OVERLAP) An article (link here) by The New Indian Express says that Agni-VI is the code name of Surya. This information looks credible as this news agency is one of those at the forefront when it is about reporting on ballistic-missile-related news (according to my personal observation). of actual missile have also emerged.

Note: This merge, if accepted, will have to be completed by another user since I won't be available on Wikipedia for some time. — Vaibhavafro💬 06:49, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Little support Though I saw old discussion on same topic, I would support this merge as I could not find any source stating They are not same. Who knows? This project (surya) is classified, we didn't have much information about this project, neither we know it is currently in existence or not. But specification is almost same to Agni VI so I don't think they must be developing two missile with same specification. Just have a look here [1]. Agni VI is currently in development. Surya is not confirm so better to merge or delete Surya missile article. Brown Chocolate (talk) 09:04, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • Brown Chocolate, what is 'little support'? You appear to be fully supporting the merge (and thanks for that). Please clarify in a comment below this.— Vaibhavafro💬 15:24, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
