This has been completed since this post was made - it now mentions all platforms, including Firefox.

"Is it ethical to block adverts online?" via BBC - Dec 2013

BBC had an interesting article earlier this month on the ethics of adblocking and it's ripe for material that could be mined to improve this article. I'm sorry I dont'have the time to do it but wanted to bring it to your attention (not for general discussion, but rather, to try to improve this article). Here is lead:

Blinking, beeping, auto-playing. Popping up, over, under. Tracking, intruding, unsettling. If the internet was a pretty face, advertising would be its wart.

Thankfully, if getting "a great six pack in weeks!" isn't your thing, you can simply flick a switch and use an adblocker - software that banishes the sight and hushes the din of irritating advertising all over the web.

The appeal is obvious, and millions have done it, but should you?

According to one count, 84% of the top 100 websites in the world rely on advertising to generate revenue...[1]

Hope the full article is useful. It mentions the Adblock Plus quite a few times btw. Cheers. joepaT 07:05, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Adblock vs AdBlock vs Adblock Plus

I noticied a change was recently made, changing the fact that ABP is forked from "the original Adblock" to "the original AdBlock".

I just want to point people to the official page from AdBlock on his matter - https://getadblock.com/adblock-is-not-adblock-plus - which says the following:

Long ago, there was a Firefox add-on called Adblock. Later, a different group created a different Firefox add-on and adopted the name Adblock Plus.

When Google Chrome came along, Michael Gundlach saw that there was no “AdBlock” extension for it and that the Adblock Plus team said they wouldn’t make one.

So to summarise: Adblock came first, then Adblock Plus, then AdBlock.

I hope this helps editors in the future.

It seems that Adblock Plus just bought AdBlock: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/10/02/adblock_flogged_off_to_mystery_buyer/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.29.251.163 (talk) 20:09, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
