I found this exact text: "Since Hong Kong played a pivotal role in the formation of the AFC, it was awarded the right to host the first Asian Cup. As the hosts, Hong Kong qualified automatically to the finals. Seven of the twelve affiliated national association divided into three qualifying zones. Hong Kong opened the tournament with a game against Israel which they were very unlucky to lose, but Israel were generally disappointing as much was expected from them. Korea Republic were crowned champions when they won the crucial tie against Israel 2-1. Three second-half goals kept the 25,000 football fans in Hong Kong on their feet. South Korea struck first (Woo Sang Koon 53' and Soung Rak-Woon 65') before Israel who were the runners-up replied with a solitary goal scored by Nahum Stelmach in the 71st minute. 2015 Asian Cup[edit]

The FFA (Australia) has publically stated they are going to bid for the 2015 Asian Cup. Since there is now verifiable sources quoting this, would it not be too early to create the 2015 AFC Asian Cup article? Just asking because it annoys me when people create articles for events way in the future, but in this case I think it is now justified. -- Chuq (talk) 01:15, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Iran holds almost all major Asian Cup final competition records : most games played (54 followed by South Korea,50), most games won (31, followed by South Korea, 23), most goals scored (106, followed by South Korea, 79), best goal difference (+66, followed by Japan, +27). Iran shares records of most Asian Cup titles (3) with Saudi Arabia and Japan and most Asian Cup final competition participation (11) with South Korea and most semi final appearance (8) with Japan, while Saudi Arabia holds record of finals played (6 followed by South Korea 5 and Iran 3).

In this part of the document, it states that Iran shares most semi fianl apperance (8) with Japan. However, it is a wrong statement and it should be changed to Republic of Korea or South Korea.

Most successful national teams section[edit]

My first impression is that it would make sense to sort teams with equal achievements, by the most recent achievement. Clearly Australia is "more successful" than Myanmar, and North Korea is "more successful" than Cambodia. But I may not be looking at this from a neutral point of view since I'm Australian. Well, I don't know how you came to the view that Australia is more succesful than Myanmar when that grid shows both have achieved the saem, but never mind, whatever floats the boot i guess. Israel removed without reason[edit]
