Fair use rationale for Image:42nd.jpg[edit]

Image:42nd.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. 1981 Tony Awards[edit]

On 18 June an editor changed the 1981 Best Featured Actor in a Musical from Dave Kelley to Lee Roy Reams, even though at least 3 sites on the internet (one apparently quoting exactly from the other) show Kelley as the 1981 nominee. The Broadway Database [http:www.ibdb.com] lists Reams as the 1981 Tony nominee, and this information is echoed in the Wikipedia article on Reams, so it seems correct, and we may disregard the apparently erroneous sites (absoluteastronomy.com, reference.findtarget.com, and muni.org). Merrick's announcement of Champion's death[edit]

The article claimed that David Merrick's motive for withholding news of Gower Champion's death until after the final curtain call was "to guarantee nationwide headlines and extraordinary media publicity for the show the following day." That's a pretty bold claim, and it's unsupported by the article cited as a source. I see that the claim was added to the article in 2007 by a user (SFTVLGUY2) whose user/user talk page was deleted a few months later by admin AGK because the user had been indefinitely blocked. Therefore, I could not discuss the matter directly with the user to see if he had a valid source for the claim. Under the circumstances, I believe the claim must be removed from the article, so I have done so. Benccc (talk) 07:46, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

San Francisco 1980-81 (?) production missing[edit]

The "Productions" section notes the 1984 West End production and a substantial catalog of revivals in various locales, so surely it would not be too provincial to include the 1980-81 (IIRC) San Francisco production at the Golden Gate Theatre. SF, being a major tourist destination (its main source of revenue), has been able to support a number of long runs of full-scale productions of Broadway hits, both concurrent with their original productions and in revival, as well as occasional "previews" or "tryouts" (outside of NYC these are sometimes called "premieres") and original-cast touring productions.

Another missing item is the closing date. The article says only that it closed "after 3,486 performances". The cit says Jan 8, 1989. 66.81.222.123 (talk) 21:58, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A little searching revealed that my uncertain recollection of the date was way off on this one—it was 1985.
