Results tables[edit]

The current format of the results tables makes them rather cumbersome to read, especially with tied matches. I suggest the following format as an alternative:

Group 1
Rnd Match/result Score
1 Johnson def. Long 3 & 2
Na and McIntyre Tied
2 Johnson def. McIntyre 1 up
Na def. Long 6 & 4
3 Johnson and Na Tied
McIntyre def. Long 2 up

(The entered result are for illustrative purposes only, of course.) Thoughts? wjematherplease leave a message... 15:33, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it improves anything in the table with a match victory. I do agree though that tied matches look better in that format in the table. Jimmymci234 (talk) 15:51, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should remain the way it currently is. Not only is it the way that everyone has gotten used to working with, but changing it to the above example would not only make the editors have to change the brain in a way in which that they would have to do new movements with editing, but there is nothing gained, plus it would be a pain in the neck to go and change them, especially considering it would be effort with nothing to gain. Firstly, we should always consider readers first and foremost (editors come a distant second). Secondly, as explained, it displays tied matches much more clearly. Finally, it is actually a small and easy change that simplifies the code greatly. wjematherplease leave a message... 16:01, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I like having the winner and loser as separate columns. The current style also instantly indicates a halved match by spanning all 3 columns. I suppose an alternative is to switch columns 2 and 3, putting the result on the right hand side. (Also I prefer "tied" to "Tied") Nigej (talk) 16:02, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Group 1
Rnd Winner Loser Score
1 Johnson Long 3 & 2
Na and McIntyre tied
2 Johnson McIntyre 1 up
Na Long 6 & 4
3 Johnson and Na tied
McIntyre Long 2 up
That would also be an improvement. Note also, that the current format requires a lot of code changes for entering results making it more difficult for newer editors to get involved. wjematherplease leave a message... 16:09, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I like the table just the way it has always been. To me, it's always been easy to understand. Honestly Wjemather, you don't add much of anything that enhances these golf pages. To me, all you really do is simply delete formatting that has been around for years and delete a lot hard work that Johnsmith2116 has put in and you seem to do it just because you don't like it. Past champions is an example of something that doesn't need deleting. Just my opinion. Jeff5768 (talk) 03:34, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff5768: Please review WP:CONSENSUS and the discussions at WT:GOLF, and familiarise yourself with the relevant content policies and guidelines. I suggest you also refrain from making ill-informed personal remarks. wjematherplease leave a message... 08:34, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Prize money and FedEx Cup/OWGR points breakdown[edit]

As is often the case with these sort of tables, this has grown over the years with the addition of FedEx Cup points and OWGR points. Seems to me that, to be in line with our other articles, we should just have the prize money. And we don't need the euros column either; why not yen, etc. Nigej (talk) 07:27, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Another example of creeping cruft; it's statistics for the sake of statistics with no context or encyclopedic benefit. It should be cut back to prize money, and only in the currency it's paid out. wjematherplease leave a message... 07:46, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
