Some notes for editors[edit]

The North Indian Ocean seasons have all the storms added from 2000-2008. I don't know whether to include STS Koni in this article since it made it all the way to Myanmar before dissipating. IMD does cover land depressions, and since I find no evidence they numbered anything until 2006, they can be really hard to distinguish.

Also, one of the WMO documents mentions that the Panel on Tropical Cyclones adopted the current scale sometime around 1999. That might be a good cutoff year before switching to JTWC stuff. I don't know if they actually used it back then, but Google turns up a lot of searches for the Super Cyclonic Storm of that year. Of course, this is all pointless if you can't find info for 1999 since all the documents from IMD usually have missing or extremely lossy graphics.Potapych (talk) 05:50, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Hurricanehink. I will be reviewing this article tonight. After skimming through, I must say, nice job! When I first saw it, I was like, "damn, this is way better than the 2002 NIO." However, there are a few minor issues with I would like you to address/fix within the next week.--12george1 (talk) 03:17, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Maybe you should mention in the lede whether the season was inactive, average, or above average. Judging by the information I added to the 2002 NIO, this season was also inactive. If not in the lede, you should definitely mention this in the season summary
  • " It is possible that the storm contributed to a deadly heatwave in India due to shifting air currents." - Not sure if heatwave is one word or two, but the article title has heat wave as two words. Also, wikilink India, since you have wikilinked Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
  • Death toll is too low in the infobox. Here's the death toll for each TC: 254 for BOB 01 (Sri Lanka), 21 for BOB 04, 19 for BOB 05, and 83 for BOB 07. 254 + 21 + 19 + 83 = 377
  • Well, I didn't include BoB05, since that was from overall monsoonal rains, not just from the depression. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:29, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • The number is still wrong, because 377 - 19 = 358--12george1 (talk) 03:32, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • "weakening over land, passing near the Andoman and Nicobar Islands" - Andoman Islands? Never heard of them :P
  • "Local news reports indicated that the storm produced 10 ft (3.0 m) waves as it moved ashore," - Why did you have feet first here? It should be head first. Jk :P Meters/metres should go first if you are using metric units throughout the article.
  • Again, nice work Hurricanehink! After these issues are fixed/addressed, I will be more than happy to pass this article and list it as a Good Article. Regards,--12george1 (talk) 03:16, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:29, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • I pointed out another minor error on IRC, which you fixed. Well, that was quick! Good job on this page. I will be passing this article and listing it as a Good Article. Congratulations, --12george1 (talk) 03:39, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
