I dont think that it should be merged with punjab regiment(pakistan). punjab regiment pakistan present day consists of a lot of other regiments and 16th punjab is a part of it. historically also 16 punjab was a separate regiment part of the punjab regiment and was given to pakistan, later it was divided into several regiments thus creating the expansion of punjab regiment.
