This is a failed nomination from several months ago. I'm happy with the other nominations, I only present it, as Mitch has some concerns about regional bias, I don't think we've had California featured in a while.Dave (talk) 10:11, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Alabama signs in Massachusetts

The intersection of Routes 10 and 141 in Easthampton, Massachusetts, or Alabama?
One of the worst signage errors that made national headlines. ---Dough4872 18:55, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Oppose – Nothing about this photo except the caption would make a viewer aware that it is a mistake. A casual reader may not be aware that AL-10 and AL-141 never meet. There are no visual clues to indicate that this in Massachusetts. Sorry, there's very little humor value in just the photo alone. Imzadi1979 (talk) 02:08, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Comment - However, what we could do is use this picture and make Massachusetts Route 10 (or 141) the Featured article for April Fools Day. Assuming we don't go with US-491.Dave (talk) 22:22, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
That is always a possibility. ---Dough4872 23:40, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Interstate 173

A two-lane stretch of Interstate 173 in Clinton, New Jersey
An interstate sign error on a two-lane road. ---Dough4872 02:06, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
This one is better, but at that size, it loses the point. Try a version cropped to eliminate the group of small signs on the right, zooming in a bit to show the road and the sign. The caption is funny and makes it work. I can go with this after the photo is improved. Imzadi1979 (talk) 02:11, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

  • Oppose. Per above, the image has to have a shield of the freeway. Otherwise, this image shows a boring underside and no traffic. --PCB 22:49, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
    • The photo should show the road or a road sign. This photo shows the road. Not all photos will show traffic, and in fact, not all should show traffic. The photos chosen should be aesthetically pleasing beyond the requirement to show the road in some capacity. This photo does show the road, albeit from a less common angle. Oops, sorry. I'll close the nomination once someone else comes along and agrees with you. --PCB 05:24, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Comment—I agree with Dough, but the photo could be cropped to remove the reflection. Imzadi 1979  06:38, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Agreed, crop the dashboard reflection out of the picture, and adjust the whitebalance to compensate for the tint of the windshield, and this might have a chance. Dave (talk) 16:52, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, you say that the picture could be cropped. But what do you think of the picture itself? --PCB 19:24, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
The picture just appears to be an average two-lane road in the desert. The quality is still not the best as there is tint from the windshield. I had a similar issue with a photo I once nominated. Dough4872 22:50, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Invoking WP:IAR and selecting early for November 2010 to commemorate the anniversary of the collapse. Imzadi 1979  04:54, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Tacoma Narrows Bridge

Problems listening to this file? See media help.

Now, we have two options. July 1, 2010 is the 70th anniversary of the bridge's opening in 1940. The bridge collapsed the following November 7. We've never had a Selected video before, and this would be a great clip to use, but I understand totally if we would like to wait until November to run it. Imzadi 1979  09:21, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Considering this bridge's collapse is much more well known than it's construction, I'm more inclined to say, this is a shoe-in for November. However either way, I'm going to add this to WP:USRD as this was picture of the day. Dave (talk) 17:00, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
