Lillian Bagala is a regional director of Irise International, East Africa and a director for the Uganda Youth Network .[1][2][3][4] She has been part of the Technical Working Committee for USAID – CORE Initiative to review and evaluate proposals and pioneer member in establishing the AFRiYAN - Africa Youth Adolescent Network for sub-Saharan Africa constituted by UNFPA to respond to sexual Reproductive Health issues of young people[5][6] .She established the Period Equality Network which brings together 85 member organizations across East Africa that champion menstrual health and hygiene work to engage in collective advocacy.
Background and education[edit]
Lillian Bagala is a Programme design and management Specialist with over 15 years’ experience in youth and leadership development work.[7] She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from Uganda Management Institute.[7] She has a Bachelor or Arts Degree in Social Sciences (specilising in Social Work, Political Science and Psychology) from Makerere University.[7]
Career[edit]
She has served on various technical committees within Uganda with British Council to popularize youth involvement in Millennium Development Goals, Office of the Prime Minister on Northern Uganda Youth Rehabilitation Fund (NURF) project supported by World Bank and worked as a national consultant in capacity building of youth organizations.[7] Lillian was also part of the team from Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development Uganda that conducted a research on the Situation Analysis of Child Poverty and Deprivation in Uganda together with UNICEF, Uganda, Economic Policy Research Centre, Uganda.[8]
Achievements[edit]
She was successfully nominated to join the Core Group of the Global Menstrual Health Collective[9]
