Draft:Rooms + Spaces

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rooms + Spaces is a Canadian retail chain in the home goods market created by businessman Doug Putman. Each stores features a small Toys "R" Us shop.[1] It is Canadian focused and brings a Canadian point of view according to Greg Dyer.[2] The chain's stores are in spaces formerly occupied by retail chains Bed Bath & Beyond and Buy Buy Baby. It is a subsidiary of Putman Investments.[3]

History[edit]

Rooms + Spaces opened in Canada beginning in Augest of 2023 with 24 locations in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland and Labrador. It took over many of the former locations of Bed Bath & Beyond and its subsidiary Buy Buy Baby after the American retail chain declared bankruptcy and closed down its stores.[4] Following the closure of Bed Bath & Beyond operations in Canada, entrepreneur Doug Putman, the owner of Sunrise Records and Toys "R" Us Canada, acquired 21 former Bed Bath & Beyond locations. He planned to revive the chain in Canada under a new chain with the name Rooms + Spaces, under former Bed Bath & Beyond Canada general manager Greg Dyer's leadership.[5][6]
